Chapter 1
(Y/n) smiled, beads of sweat rolling down her face. She was proud of herself.
She said, embracing her best friend.
Akari and (Y/n) had known each other since middle school. The two were inseparable, overcoming countless situations side by side. About two years ago, they decided to join the cheerleading team together.
Coach Hiroshi
Okay girls, that’s enough for today. Don’t forget to practice for the upcoming nationals. (L/n), proceed with cool down stretches.
The nine cheerleaders, along with the five substitutes, formed a circle around (Y/n) as she led them through stretches.
After they finished, everyone began to leave the field.
Suddenly, (Y/n) felt a pair of hands ruffle her hair. She turned around and was met with her favorite pair of teal eyes.
They began walking alongside each other.
Sae
Yeah, our football practice is on the same field as yours, after all.
Y/n
I’m pretty nervous about nationals coming up. What about you?
Sae
I’m not gonna lie, it’s gonna be challenging. But we’ll get through it.
As they arrived at (Y/n)’s household, the two bid farewell before Sae continued walking toward his home.
(Y/n) sat frustratedly at the sheet of paper placed in front of her. It was a history test, and one (Y/n) had been struggling with.
Despite the difficulty, she managed to fill out the entire sheet before time ran out and handed it in to her teacher.
As she headed toward the cafeteria, a familiar voice called out to her.
Y/n
"Hey Akari! How’d you do on your test?
Akari
I did well, but that’s not the point.
She looked serious as she caught up.
Akari
You know how nationals is coming up soon? I just found out that one of the soccer players from the other team is Oliver Aiku.
Y/n
(quietly) Oliver Aiku… your ex?
Oliver Aiku used to be Akari’s boyfriend, but they broke up after he cheated on her, claiming he never loved her in the first place.
Y/n
If he ever tries anything, I’ll be by your side.
She embraced the (h/c) haired girl tightly.
Akari
I don’t know what I would’ve done without you.
Y/n
Now let's go to practice.
Akari smiled as the pair started heading to the field.
After finishing warm-ups, all the cheerleaders huddled up.
Coach Hiroshi
Okay girls, nationals is in two weeks, so we have to work harder and perfect our moves before then to make Kyōto, our school, proud.
The cheerleading squad all nodded in agreement.
Across the field, a boy with teal eyes couldn’t help but stare at his friend.
He called out, but noticed Sae was too distracted, his gaze fixed on something... or someone.
Shidou followed Sae’s line of vision and spotted the girl Sae was watching, a girl performing cartwheels effortlessly.
Shidou
(grinning) Don’t tell me you like that girl!
Sae
(snapping out of it) What. Stop being an idiot.
Shidou
(chuckling) Whatever you say.
He smirked, clearly amused by Sae’s denial.
The boys continued practicing on the field, working on passes and receivings with focus and precision. They, too, were preparing for nationals, just as determined to win against shiketsu High.
I apologize for the short chapter. The next chapters will hopefully be longer!
