Weather: Sunny ☀️, but cold ☃️. <Like the classroom floor.>
Hana Mitchell.
Dear Diary,
Hana Mitchell.
Today was day two at 'Huh?' Elementary.
Hana Mitchell.
I still don't understand everything, but I understood two new words today:
Hana Mitchell.
*Kyūshoku* — school lunch.
and
*Shizuka ni* — 'be quiet'.
Hana Mitchell.
Put those two together and you get what I now call, "Silent Chewing Hour."
Hana Mitchell.
Like seriously! Lunch is SUPER~ quiet here.
Hana Mitchell.
No chatting. No slurping. Not even whispering!
Hana Mitchell.
Everyone just eats their food like little food robots — munch munch munch — then stare at their trays like it's a math homework!
Hana Mitchell.
Yet, as creepy as it seems, it's also... peaceful. In a really weird way.

Hana Mitchell.
This time, we had the lunch school provides instead of our bentos and lunchbox.
Hana Mitchell.
I got a tray of rice, miso soup, a slice of grilled fish (which, for your information, I tried to eat 'politely') and a spinach dish which looked like it had seaweed cousins in it.
Hana Mitchell.
Oh! And milk too!
Hana Mitchell.
They really love milk here. Everyone drinks it like it's soda!

Hana Mitchell.
I tried to copy the girl who sat beside me, which surprisingly is the same girl who had helped me yesterday.
Hana Mitchell.
(I believe her name's... Yui? Yeah! Yui.)
Hana Mitchell.
The way Yui was eating, I tried to copy it. She looks like a real professional the way she holds the chopsticks!
