Flight Attendant (speaker)
Flight attendants, prepare for landing please.
Flight Attendant (speaker)
Cabin crew, please take your seats for landing
The flight attendant's voice bloomed through the speaker. Everyone sat tight in their seats as the plane slowly started to descend toward the ground.
A man sat in one of the seats, his legs crossed. Slacks hugged his thighs tightly, black polished pointed shoes glimmered like mirrors.
His dirty blond hair was parted in the middle. He looked serious—eyebrows furrowed. His aura screamed don't come near me.
He was, no doubt, intimidating—and well, if ‘I hate people’ were a person, it’d be him.
He checked the time. 5:20 PM, the Vacheron Constantin watch on his wrist read.
Flight Attendant (speaker)
Ladies and gentlemen, we have just been cleared to land at the Incheon airport. Please make sure one last time your seat belt is securely fastened...
The man sighed and took off his AirPods. He shoved them into his pocket, already prepared to walk out.
He felt the wheels hit the tarmac and looked out the window. A strange euphoria hit him—finally, solid ground after 13 hours in the air.
Flight Attendant (speaker)
Ladies and gentlemen, welcome to Incheon Airport. Local time is 5:30 PM and the temperature is 26° Celsius...
He wasn’t paying attention to any of it. The seatbelt sign turned off, and he immediately stood, opened the overhead bin, and took out his luggage.
Flight Attendant (speaker)
On behalf of Air Seoul Airlines and the entire crew, thank you for joining us. We look forward to seeing you again!
Jungkook
Yeah, yeah, good evening to you too. Now open the damn door.
He stepped out, ignoring the polite flight attendants, finally setting foot in South Korea after ten long years.
He had no idea his life would change completely that very night.
A short man stood with a signboard that read Jeon Jungkook, waiting for his best friend. His mask hid most of his face, a beret on his head, long coat covering him. A successful lawyer—Park Jimin.
He rose on his toes to scan the crowd, then—
Jungkook
(tapping Jimin's shoulder) Shorty.
Jimin
(eyes lighting up) Jungkook!
Jimin dropped the signboard and hugged the taller man tightly.
Jungkook gave him two casual pats on the back, not a fan of skinship, but letting it slide for now.
Jimin
The party is going to start at 7. We have only one hour. So, shall we move?
Jungkook
(shrugging off his coat)
It's fcking hot in here.
Jungkook
(dragging his suitcase)
Let's go. We don't have anything to do in this airport anyway.
Jimin
(mumbling) Well, I just said it but anyway...
Jungkook
(watching the streets) South Korea has changed a lot.
Jimin
(driving) You stepped into this country after 10 years. Of course, a lot of things changed.
In case you're wondering how they stayed friends—Jimin and Jungkook knew each other long before Jungkook left. They never lost touch.
Jimin
(teasing) So tell me about you. Still playing around or finally found someone?
Jungkook
(smirking) A lot of men caught my eye, but no one has gone as far as stealing my heart.
Jungkook
(scoffing) Shame. Seems like no one has been born yet who can steal Jeon Jungkook’s heart.
Jimin
(serious) But you can't live like this, Jungkook. Instead of hooking up, you need to find someone and settle down.
Jungkook
(laughing sarcastically)
You're just jealous you’re stuck with your husband and can’t even have fun
Jimin
Life’s not all about hooking up and—
Jungkook
(cutting off) I don’t hook up. I feed them money and make them do things I want.
Jimin
(remembering) What about John? You didn’t feed him money. You played with his feelings.
Jungkook
(defensive) Well, I didn’t know he had feelings. He told me after. So I cut him off.
Jimin
(flat) You literally ghosted him, Jungkook. How could you? He had genuine feelings for you.
Jungkook
(casual) Well, I don’t. And I don’t care. So why bother?
Jimin
(sighing) You are impossible.
Jungkook
(smirking) Glad you realized. Anyway, tell me about you. How’s married life? Speaking of which—you never showed me your husband.
Jimin shot Jungkook a glare before focusing back on the road.
Jimin
(fidgeting) No, it’s not that. I just—never thought of it? Thought it wasn’t important.
Jungkook
(raising brow) What? Jimin, I’ve never seen your husband in two years and you say it’s not important? Are you even on good terms with him?
Jimin
(forcing a smile) Yeah–yeah, of course. We’re good
Jungkook
(chuckling) Don’t worry. I may like to play, but I’m not cheap enough to seduce my best friend’s husband.
Jimin
I know, Jungkook. I didn’t mean it that way. I just really thought you had no interest in my married life. But he’s coming to the party, so you’ll meet him eventually.
Jungkook
(surprised) He’s coming? Is he a lawyer too? Last I checked, you married a CEO
Jimin
Yeah, he’s a successful businessman. It’s the 100th anniversary of our law firm, so they invited Taehyung as a guest.
Jungkook
(murmuring) Mhm, sounds plausible.
