The rain had stopped by morning. The clouds were still hanging low, but the soft grey sky made everything feel calm.

Jungkook unlocked the bakery just as the town was waking up. He tied his apron neatly and turned on the lights, filling the space with a gentle golden glow. Soon, the smell of rising dough and melting butter filled the air.

It was peaceful.

At least, until the bell above the door jingled again.

Jungkook looked up from kneading dough.

There he was...

Taehyung, dry this time, wearing a cream sweater and a smile that made Jungkook’s heart flutter without warning.

Jeon Jungkook

You are back (he said, his voice softer than he meant it to be)

Kim Taehyung

I told you I would be (smiles)

Kim Taehyung

You didn’t think I’d lie, did you?

Jungkook didn’t answer. He just wiped his hands and moved to the counter

Want the same tea as yesterday?

Kim Taehyung

Yes, please. And… can I sit by the window?

Jungkook noded and Taehyung walked over to the corner table, the one with the wide glass window looking out to the street and the sea beyond. He placed a sketchbook on the table and took out a pencil.

You draw ? (Jungkook asked as he brought over the tea)

....(smiles) A little

I’m actually here to rest and get inspired. The city got too loud.

Jungkook quietly placed a fresh croissant on his plate.

Then I hope this place helps...

Taehyung smiled at him again, softer this time.

Kim Taehyung

It already is

Jungkook didn’t know what to say to that, so he turned back to the kitchen. But something about the quiet scratching of Taehyung’s pencil and the gentle clink of his cup felt comforting. Like a new rhythm he could get used to.

Throughout the morning, customers came and went. Jungkook worked quietly, occasionally glancing at the window seat.

Taehyung was still there. Drawing. Watching the world through the glass. Occasionally smiling at something only he could see.

Before leaving, Taehyung came to the counter.

Thanks for letting me stay so long (he said softly)

Then I’ll see you tomorrow, Jungkook.

And just like that, he was gone again

Jungkook stood there for a moment, hands resting on the wooden counter, wondering why that simple promise made his chest feel so warm.
