The sky was painted in a crisp, burning red, with scattered clouds hovering low—whispers of a windy evening to come.
Riven walked alone along the quiet footpath of the snow-covered road, his boots crunching softly beneath him. He was on his way back from university after finishing his classes.
His headphones were on, a soft melody humming in his ears, but he remained alert to the passing vehicles. As he reached the crossing, he paused, waiting for the signal. The green light blinked into red allowing him to cross.
Just as he took a step forward, he spotted an elderly blind man in a wheelchair on the other side of the road. He was calling out for help, voice trembling in the winter air—but the crowd passed him by, indifferent.

“People can be so cruel…” he thought, already moving toward him.

The old man turned toward his voice, smiling at his kindness.
As Riven gently guided the man across the road, he asked about his life—just casual questions, small talk to keep the man at ease. Once they reached the other side, Riven gave a polite bow.

Riven blinked, startled. Before he could ask more, the man wheeled himself away, leaving only the echo of those strange words.
Riven stared after him, confused, but eventually shook it off and continued walking.
Unbeknownst to him, a pair of intense brown eyes had been watching his every movement from across the street. The man—tall, broad-shouldered, shrouded in a charcoal coat—stood still as the boy disappeared from view.
His wolf stirred within him.
Usually silent, only speaking in times of warning or exhaustion, it now growled softly in his mind.
A feeling he hadn’t known in years—intrigue.

“What is it about him…?” he murmured aloud, before stepping onto the road as the light turned green.
When Riven finally returned home, exhaustion clung to him like a second skin. After freshening up, he collapsed on his bed, pulling the fluffy, bear-printed blanket over him. He didn’t even notice when Eunhyee called him, her voice laced with worry at the sight of his pale face.
Curious, she tiptoed into his room and paused at the door—only to melt at the sight.
There he lay, soft black hair scattered over the pillow, clutching the blanket like a little cub in hibernation. She smiled fondly and quietly closed the door behind her.
Riven was still fast asleep.
Downstairs, Taehyung and Vincent had just returned from work. They were sprawled across the living room couch, heads resting lazily on Eunhyee’s lap. Her fingers moved gently through their hair as their usual bickering filled the warm space.

(grumbling while poking Taehyung’s forehead):

Before Eunhyee could reply, a soft shuffling sound drew their attention.
They turned toward the stairs—and found Riven standing at the hallway entrance.
Barefoot, hoodie sleeves drooping past his fingers, his eyes rimmed with redness, he looked like a fragile wisp of himself.

Riven padded over, fingers twitching with his sleeves. He didn’t meet their eyes, but the tension in his shoulders was enough.
Vincent gently pulled him onto the couch between them.

Their playful bickering continued, now joined by soft giggles from Riven. Eunhyee occasionally jumped in with stories from their childhood—how Vincent once cried over a broken sticker or how Taehyung wore fairy wings to school for three days straight
