The ballroom buzzed with chatter and the clinking of glasses. Laughter echoed through the grand hall as guests mingled—some flaunting their heirs in hopes of winning the favor of a powerful, well-known Alpha.
But tonight wasn’t just any celebration.
Tonight marked the sacred coming-of-age of the most feared and revered Enigma—Jeon Jungkook.
It was his 21st birthday, and he stood at the heart of the gathering, patiently waiting for the arrival of his fated mates. One of his eyes shimmered an enchanting golden-green, the other a deep, dark brown—a rare trait that set him apart from the rest of his kind.
His expression was cold and unreadable. Yet when he spoke, his voice held the polite calmness expected from someone of his rank. He barely smiled.
Everyone—young men, women, even married Omegas—desperately hoped for a moment of his attention. But Jungkook, proud and distant, never cared to entertain them. His gaze never lingered—until now.
At the far corner of the ballroom stood a boy—perhaps around twenty.
His outfit was a breathtaking blend of white, gold, and a touch of crimson. Styled in an elegant, traditional Korean hanfu, with delicate gold patterns and a sheer red cape, the attire hugged his frame as if it was stitched from fate itself.
His siren-blue eyes, wide and doe-like, wandered around the hall. There was sadness in them—a quiet ache that no one could understand. Yet, a charming smile played on his lips, carefully concealing the storm within.
And unknown to the boy, the attention of a certain Enigma had already been caught.
Jungkook found his eyes drifting toward him again and again—though he refused to make direct eye contact. He didn’t know why, but something felt different.
Something stirred inside him—an unfamiliar possessiveness—as he noticed how nearly every Alpha in the room was undressing the boy with their eyes.
His jaw tightened.
He couldn’t name the emotion.
But it burned deep.
