(From the hallway) I heard that

(Smiling down at the cat) I know
The cat purrs softly as Serene settles on the couch

(She took it to their room)

(She placed it on the bed)
After a few minutes, it woke up and seemed to feel a bit better.
It immediately started playing with Serene, and it seemed to really like Serene.

It means “grace” or “unfading.”

After getting dressed, she went to her study room. Only she is allowed to enter.

(She sat in her chair and opened her laptop)
Elira is a law student; her family owns one of the most famous law firms in the country.
She studied in her study room for several hours.

Outside the study, Serene wandered the hall with Amara in her arms.

Inside, Elira removed her glasses and rubbed her eyes, exhaustion settling on her features.

A soft knock suddenly echoed from the door.

It got very late for Elira.

(went to the door and opened it)
She saw the food on a tray below

(Soft sigh) She really did leave it…
She picks up the tray and walks quietly to the kitchen. The lights are off, the house silent

(Places the tray on the counter, lifts the cover) Still warm…
She grabs a fork and eats in silence. A few bites in, her eyes flick toward the living room

(Curled up on the couch, fast asleep, Amara nestled on her chest)

(Watches them for a moment, her expression unreadable)

After finishing her food, she quietly walks over, pulling the blanket draped on the armrest and gently covers Serene.
She turns, heads upstairs, and closes her door without a sound.

(Already up, feeding Amara with a small dish of cat food she found in the pantry)

She glances upstairs, hears nothing

She heads to the kitchen and starts preparing breakfast quietly
