Arrival
There were nights when Kai felt overwhelmed—tired, achy, or just emotional
And he would find Vincent already waiting with warm tea, a cozy blanket, and a playlist of soft music they once danced to
On one such night, curled into Vincent’s chest, Kai whispered
Kai
Why does it feel like everything is perfect?
Vincent kissed his hair and said
Vincent
Because you’re here
Vincent
And you made this house a home
And just like that, wrapped in warmth, surrounded by love, their days passed—slow and golden—as they waited for the tiny heartbeat growing stronger every day
Rain tapped gently against the windows, and the estate smelled of fresh coffee and warm vanilla
The fireplace crackled softly in the living room as Kai curled up on the couch, flipping through a baby book
The quiet was broken by the sound of car wheels on the driveway. Kai glanced up
Moments later, the doorbell rang
Vincent
Don't stand up hastily love
Vincent
I'll get it, you stay here
It's the 8th month of pregnancy
And Vincent mostly did his work from home
The door swung open, revealing a tall man in a deep navy coat, suitcase in one hand, a leather laptop bag in the other
His hair was damp from the rain, a few strands falling into his sharp eyes
Vincent greeted with a smile and pulled him into a brief, brotherly hug
Vincent
You're right on time
Adrian(O)
You look handsome as always and smell like coffee and old Books
Vincent gestured toward the living room
Vincent
Come on in, make yourself at home
Adrian(O)
What do you mean? It's my home *chuckles*
Vincent
Yeah yeah*laughing*
As they stepped inside, Adrian’s eyes swept across the space—and landed on Kai
For a moment, everything paused
Kai stood slowly, his hand resting on his belly
Vincent
This is Adrian—my friend from grad school
Vincent
He’s helping with the software for the new Larsen Initiative
Adrian recovered quickly, offering a polite nod
Adrian(O)
Nice to meet you*smile*
He returned the greeting, keeping his voice even, but inside, questions churned
Kai
(Did Adrian really not remember?)
Vincent looked between them, puzzled
Adrian(O)
Nothing to talk about
But a small crease formed between Kai's brows
Adrian(O)
I'm so hungry, I'll keep my suitcase in your room
Vincent
You are telling me that you did before?
Adrian(O)
Just joking*chuckles*
Vincent
I'm married you know*hugging Kai*
Adrian(O)
Oh sorry you're married now
Vincent
You can keep your bag in guest room
Vincent
It's third room from left
Kai kept watching Adrian as he wheeled his suitcase inside
The dining room was bright
The table was neatly set, as always—thanks to Vincent, who made sure everything was perfect for Kai, down to the right cutlery and the softest chair cushion
Kai sat comfortably at the head of the table, one hand lazily resting on his baby bump, the other holding a glass of fresh juice.
Vincent asked, wiping a smudge off Kai’s lower lip with a cloth like it was the most natural thing in the world
Kai
Yes*eating peanuts with sauce*
Across the table, Adrian was quiet. He had watched this dance for the past twenty minutes
Vincent refilling Kai’s plate before he asked, filled his glass with juices
Every tiny detail screamed one thing
Adrian’s jaw tightened as he stabbed a piece of chicken. His fork scraped the plate, metal screeching just slightly louder than necessary
He quickly masked it with a laugh
Adrian(O)
You look like a servant Vincent
Vincent
Just because I take care of my love
Vincent
Then I'm happy to become a servant for him
Adrian(O)
No I mean how do you find time for your work?*laughing*
Vincent
What's there to find?
Kai smiled, touched, but he didn’t miss the way Adrian’s knuckles had gone pale around the fork
There was something there that made Kai’s gaze linger on Adrian longer than necessary
Vincent reached out and gently laced his fingers through Kai’s
