The rain didn’t stop. Not when the first car pulled up. Not when the gates opened on their own. And definitely not when the mansion sighed—like it had been holding its breath for centuries.
Kai stepped out first.
Soaked boots, hoodie up, jaw clenched.
He didn’t say a word.
Behind him, Leona’s heels clicked against the stone. Calm. Cold. Like she belonged to a darker era. She looked at the building once—and it looked back.
Then came Evan.
Headphones in, hoodie halfway zipped, unimpressed.
“Bro, this looks like it eats souls for breakfast,” he muttered.
“I mean… you came,” Iris grinned, twirling her umbrella like a knife. Her eyes sparkled—too bright for this place
“Dare me to lick the doorknob?” Eris said as he strutted in like he owned it.
“No,” Leona, Kai, and Iris all said at once.

Then Lina arrived last.
Umbrella trembling. Hands tight on her bag. She paused at the front steps. Her eyes flicked upward… to a window on the third floor.
Someone was staring down.
But it wasn’t a reflection.
It blinked.
The doors creaked open.
Inside, a single letter waited on the black-and-gold table.
“To those bound by desire and death—
Welcome home.”
And just like that…
The mansion locked itself shut.
