Episode 13: “The Interview”

Episode 13: “The Interview”

The email came late at night.

Subject: A Platform for Your Voice.

Jiva stared at it for a long time, unsure whether to open it.

But curiosity won.

Dear Jiva,

My name is Maren Holt. I’m a producer for “Voices Unfiltered,” a digital series highlighting real stories that challenge social norms and spark change. We’ve followed your blog, and we’d love to feature your journey—your words, your truth, your side of the story. If you’re open, we’d like to schedule a filmed interview. You’ll have full editorial control.

She read it twice.

Then whispered into the dark, “Alex…”

He stirred beside her, one arm already reaching for her waist. “Hmm?”

“I got an email. Someone wants to interview me. About us.”

He blinked himself awake. “Who?”

She showed him.

He read silently, then looked up. “How do you feel about it?”

“I want to be heard. But I’m scared.”

“You should be,” he said softly. “But I’ll be with you. Every second.”

The studio was smaller than she imagined.

Warm lights. A chair in the center. Two cameras.

Maren greeted her with a calm, knowing smile. “We’ll go at your pace, okay? Nothing’s off-limits unless you say so.”

Jiva nodded, mic clipped to her sweater.

Her heart was pounding.

But her hands were steady.

The camera rolled.

And she began:

“My name is Jiva. I’m 18. And I fell in love with my professor.”

She told everything.

How it started with long glances and quiet admiration.

How it became something deeper—mutual, intense, unstoppable.

How they waited until the semester ended.

How the world still punished them.

She talked about the hate.

The names.

The whispers in lecture halls.

The day she walked away from her degree to protect the man she loved.

Maren listened without judgment.

No interruptions. No dramatics.

When it was over, she asked gently, “If you could go back… would you choose differently?”

Jiva didn’t hesitate. “No. Because he never made me feel small. He never took from me. He saw me. I became more myself because of him.”

The interview went viral in days.

Clips shared on social media.

Reaction videos.

Debates.

Some people still called her naive.

Others called her brave.

But for the first time, the narrative belonged to her.

She wasn’t a scandal.

She was a woman with a voice.

Alex watched the video three times.

The third time, he cried.

Not because she defended him.

But because she didn’t need to.

She told her story as her own.

That same night, another email came.

From a university he hadn’t heard from in years.

“We saw your manuscript preview. And your partner’s interview. If you’re interested, we’d like to discuss a guest lecture position. Virtual. Experimental ethics.”

He didn’t know whether to laugh or swear.

The door that once slammed… cracked open.

When he told Jiva, she sat in silence for a moment.

Then: “Do you want to go back?”

“I don’t know,” he admitted. “It’s tempting. But I’m not the man I used to be.”

“Maybe that’s the point,” she said. “You’d be teaching from truth. Not theory.”

He looked at her—his anchor, his mirror.

“I’ll think about it.”

That night, they made love slowly.

Not out of desperation or rebellion.

But out of celebration.

The fire that nearly burned them down had forged something indestructible.

When he kissed her now, it was with reverence.

When she whispered his name, it was with power.

They had weathered the worst.

And still, they chose each other.

Again. And again.
