Hello rookie readers 🐱😀
Scene: Late Night An Empty Beach Shoreline
Waves crash softly in the background.
The moon reflects off the dark water.
Astrid walks barefoot across the cold sand, her arms wrapped tightly around herself, still wearing her college hoodie. Her face is soaked with silent tears.
She stops near a large rock and collapses onto it, curling into herself. She pulls her mother's pendant out from under her hoodie and stares at it, clutching it
ASTRID FERNANDEZ (villainess)
(barely whispering, broken): You said you'd never leave me, Mom
Her voice cracks. She squeezes her eyes shut.
ASTRID FERNANDEZ (villainess)
(voice shaking): But you did. And now... he doesn't see me anymore. He doesn't even look at me the same.
She breathes in, then out-shaky, painful.
ASTRID FERNANDEZ (villainess)
: He looks at her like she's... yours. Like she's the daughter you should've had
The pendant shakes in her hand
ASTRID FERNANDEZ (villainess)
(whispering to the sky): What did I do so wrong? Why does it feel like I'm always losing?
She starts sobbing, covering her face, rocking slightly sl in the sand. The sound of waves, soft wind, and her cries fills the space
Scene Shift: Same
Time Inside the House
Astrid's father is pacing in the living room, running his hands through his hair. He looks pale, exhausted, filled with regret
ETHA FERNANDEZ ( villainess dad)
(to himself): I shouldn't have yelled. I should've talked to her. I always wait too long
He looks toward the door. Scarlet sits nearby on the couch, hugging a pillow, eyes wide and anxious.
ETHA FERNANDEZ ( villainess dad)
(guilty): She's hurting. I should've seen it
ETHA FERNANDEZ ( villainess dad)
She's not bad. She's just... broken
SCENE SHIFT: BACK TO THE BEACH
Astrid is wiping her tears now, trying to calm her breath. She stands slowly, walking toward the edge of the water. That's when she sees it-
Farther down the beach, a girl is standing near the rocks-her back to Astrid, her arms out, body stiff. Too close to the edge
ASTRID FERNANDEZ (villainess)
(<Astrid's breath catches >)
ASTRID FERNANDEZ (villainess)
(under her breath): Wait... what the hell-
ASTRID FERNANDEZ (villainess)
(<She runs>)
ASTRID FERNANDEZ (villainess)
(shouting): Hey! What are you doing?!
The girl doesn't respond. She shifts forward slightly, looking down at the crashing waves below. Her shoulders are shaking-maybe crying.
The girl turns-young, maybe 17. Tear-streaked face, empty eyes. She stares at Astrid, confused.
ASTRID FERNANDEZ (villainess)
(frantic now): Don't do it! Please, just stop
Mira
(flatly): You don't know me. You don't care
ASTRID FERNANDEZ (villainess)
(panting, eyes wide): You're right. I don't know you. But I know what it feels like... to want everything to stop.
The girl looks shaken, unsure
Mira
(softly): I have nothing left
ASTRID FERNANDEZ (villainess)
(stepping closer, trembling): I thought that too. Tonight. I ran away. I screamed at my family. I said horrible things. I felt like... I was vanishing
ASTRID FERNANDEZ (villainess)
(voice breaking): But if I disappear... who will tell you that it gets better? Who will stay here and fight with you?
The girl's lip trembles. Her knees give out slightly -and Astrid rushes forward, catching her. They both collapse on the sand, crying, holding each other like strangers clinging to the same piece of wreckage in a storm.
