Ch-5
At Georgie’s penthouse, dimly lit with the city skyline glowing through the floor-to-ceiling windows. Luca paces near the bar, while Ethan leans against a wall, watching everything with sharp eyes. The sound of the elevator arriving breaks the tense silence.
Santiago enters, dressed in a tailored black suit, exuding authority. His gaze immediately locks onto Luca, eyes filled with years of resentment.
Luca Moretti
(Voice low, almost a growl) What the hell are you doing here, Santiago?
Santiago Moretti
(Smirks, stepping further inside) You think I’d miss the fun? I heard you made quite a mess earlier, Georgie.
Georgie May Adler (fl)
(Unbothered, swirling the whiskey in her glass) If you came here just to waste my time, you can turn around and walk right back out.
Santiago Moretti
(Chuckles) Always so cold. Just like dear old Dad.
Luca Moretti
(Steps closer, fists clenched) Say what you came to say and leave. No one here wants you around.
Santiago Moretti
(Mocking) Is that any way to treat family?
Georgie May Adler (fl)
(Eyes narrowing) You haven’t acted like family in years. So why are you really here, Santiago?
Santiago Moretti
(Shrugs) To warn you.
Ethan Aviel (ml)
(Finally speaking, his voice smooth yet dangerous) How generous of you.
Santiago Moretti
(Eyes flick to Ethan, assessing) And who the hell is this?
Georgie May Adler (fl)
(Smirks) Ethan Aviel.
Santiago Moretti
(Expression darkens slightly) The assassin.
Ethan Aviel (ml)
(Tilts his head, unimpressed) You say that like it’s a bad thing.
Santiago Moretti
(Ignoring him, turning back to Georgie) There’s movement in the shadows. More than just a simple contract on you. Someone wants a war.
Luca Moretti
(Scoffs) And you expect us to believe you give a damn?
Santiago Moretti
(Voice turning sharp) Believe what you want, but don’t come crying to me when your empire burns.
Georgie May Adler (fl)
(Leaning forward, cold amusement in her eyes) And what do you gain from this warning, Santiago?
Santiago Moretti
(Smirks) Maybe I just like watching the game play out. But even I know when the board is rigged.
Ethan Aviel (ml)
(Calm, unreadable) Then maybe you should pick a side before you’re caught in the crossfire.
Santiago Moretti
(Locks eyes with Ethan, a silent challenge passing between them) Maybe. But I don’t take orders from hired guns.
Georgie May Adler (fl)
(Sipping her drink, eyes still on Santiago) Then stay out of my way.
Santiago Moretti
(Chuckles, stepping back toward the elevator) Just don’t say I didn’t warn you.
The elevator doors close, leaving behind an air of tension. Luca exhales sharply, rubbing his temples. Ethan watches Georgie, intrigued by how unfazed she remains.
Ethan Aviel (ml)
(Smirks) Your family reunions must be a delight.
Georgie May Adler (fl)
(Shrugs) They’re predictable.
Luca Moretti
(Shaking his head) We can’t trust him.
Georgie May Adler (fl)
(Setting her glass down, eyes sharp) No. But that doesn’t mean we ignore him either.
