Kael Draven stood his ground, his sword gleaming under the dim glow of the hourglass. The hooded figure took a slow step forward, their face hidden in shadow, yet their presence sent a chill down Kael's spine.
"Who are you?" Kael demanded, his voice steady despite the storm within him.
The figure chuckled softly, a sound both ancient and knowing. "Names hold power, Kael Draven. But for now, you may call me The Keeper."
The Keeper's voice echoed through the chamber like distant thunder. There was wisdom there... and danger.
"You know me," Kael said. "You know my past. What am I? Why am I seeing these visions?"
The Keeper circled the hourglass, eyes—barely visible beneath the hood—studying Kael. "The hourglass chose to show you fragments of who you once were. But memories are dangerous things, especially for one like you."
Kael's grip tightened. "What do you mean 'one like me'?"
The Keeper stopped. "A child of Veldrath. A survivor of the Time Wars. A soul marked by the gods themselves. You are not merely a traveler, Kael Draven. You are a Remnant. The last of your kind."
The words struck him like lightning. Remnant. A term long buried in myths and old songs. A warrior from an ancient era, cursed to wander time itself.
"That's impossible," Kael whispered.
"Is it?" The Keeper gestured to the hourglass. "Your very existence defies time's laws. The visions you saw were echoes of your past life—a life of war, betrayal, and sacrifice. The blade you carry... it once belonged to the Shadow King himself. To you."
Kael staggered back. His blade, simple in appearance, suddenly felt heavier, as if burdened by its dark legacy.
"Why don't I remember any of this?" he asked.
"Because you were reborn through the Sands of Fate," The Keeper explained. "The price of rebirth is memory. But the hourglass is awakening your true self. Slowly. Painfully."
Kael's mind raced. Everything he thought he knew was unraveling. His past, his identity, his purpose—all buried beneath layers of forgotten time.
"Then what happens now?" Kael asked, his voice low.
The Keeper's eyes gleamed. "Now, you must choose. Leave this place and return to your hollow life... or embrace your destiny, face the truth, and claim your forgotten power. But beware, Kael Draven—the enemies of your past are awakening too. And they remember you far better than you remember them."
Kael looked down at his hands. A faint glow pulsed beneath his skin—the first sign of ancient power returning. The thought both terrified and exhilarated him.
"I want the truth," Kael said firmly. "Whatever it takes."
The Keeper nodded slowly. "Then come, Remnant. The path ahead will test every part of you. But know this... once you begin, there is no turning back."
As Kael stepped forward, the hourglass flared with radiant light, its sands swirling faster. The ruins of Veldrath trembled, as if sensing the awakening of a legend long thought lost.
Outside, in the shadows of the forest, unseen eyes watched. A figure clad in crimson armor smiled darkly.
"So... the Remnant lives. Let the hunt begin."
