Sorry Once

...I stand at the edge of the balcony, my eyes scanning the rest of the castle and all the people below. I feel off from how I left last night, and how I never went to my fiancé's welcome party, that I know I'll get another lecture by the King about later. He just returned, meaning my time to marry is soon, too soon. I feel the warm sunshine on my face like a hug as the sun finally rises before the tips of the castle towers. It feels the best, probably the best it ever has in a long time. When I was a kid, I used to go out with the other kids in the village and play with them, but when the King found out he said I was to never see those 'Peasants' again or they'd be shunned, frowned upon for the rest of their lives. All because they weren't as rich as us, the king and queen, because they didn't have it fair. They told me about life in the slums, how their water was dirtied, and their toys were worn. And the few clothes they had were stained with dirt from picking their dinner out of the cold ground....

...I never had that life, I was raised into luxury like my parents, but that wasn't always a blessing like everyone thought. The reality of being royal is excruciating. You must watch what you eat, never too much or too little. You must always have a slim waist, one that you could wrap your hands around. That's the truth, it's not all sunshine and rainbows like everyone takes it to be, sure it's got it's upsides when your in the right family but when your not it's just torture....

...The sound of a knock at my door startles me, not a soft one either. Not a maid, so who else would knock now? I open the door to see my fiance. Standing there, he barges in without even talking to me. "Can I help you? It's rude to just come into people rooms, you know, especially when it's a princess." I fold my arms and look at him as he stands at the edge of my bed. "Also, you never gave me your name." He just looks at me puzzled like I just told him I murdered his whole family, if he has any left. "Martin, and I needed to talk before we get married, Lucy–" I cut him off my tone firm. "Lucina. My name is Lucina." He corrects himself even though me and Martin both know if it was just a nickname. "Lucina...I want you to know I'm extremely sorry, I have to do this." Now I'm the puzzled one, he's...sorry? ...

...He leaves abruptly before I can ask any questions my mind races. He's sorry. And he seemed genuinely scared, like he was being forced to do whatever he's sorry for. But he left, so it doesn't make sense. If he's sorry, why did he leave? I know either way my guts twisting in fear of what exactly this man is sorry for and why he looked so frightened....

Authors Note: This one was REALLY short because I've gotta draft some ideas I know what's gonna happen but I'm still thinking of like subplots or things that happen later, but I know the next one will be a lot longer. Sorry for the misspellings.
