Hogan had seen potential in Emma. She wasn't the hard soldier type but quite the opposite, soft and caring. With a bit of work he'd have her on their side, and she may not even notice. On a bi-daily basis he'd stop past to talk to her. At first, she was skeptical or afraid, always thinking he was trying to manipulate her. In all honesty he was; just by giving her the truth. But he was starting to feel something else every time he went to speak with her. He wasn't sure what, but he hadn't felt it before.
Hogan stood in front of the cracked mirror, adjusting his uniform and ensuring it was as straight as can be. He hadn't straightened up this much since his last uniform inspection 2 years ago when war was still raging.
"What's got you trying to look all neat and tidy?" Walter asked.
"I've got an idea for a new external recruit, and I am meeting them. Got to look sharp." Hogan replied.
"Right, or is it something else?"
"No, just professional."
"I didn't see you shape up this much for any of the others. Heck when you spoke to Alan Fitzpatrick you looked like a drowned rat."
"He's a submarine captain, he was probably expecting me to show up like that." Hogan checked his watch. "Anyway I got to go. Make sure nobody's dead when I get back." he joked before heading up the stairs.
He hurried into the makeshift underground parking lot where Hitler's stolen car was parked. He climbed in, not caring to open the door, and started the engine. As he drove out he accidentally intentionally knocked it against a wall before driving out and soon into town. A part of him felt nervous, which was not normal. He'd stared down the barrel of guns and felt nothing; so why was he nervous now?

Emma had just gotten home. Konrad had to go to Berlin and had his office closed until he got back. Emma got the time off, starting from when he left. She was putting her stuff down when there was a knock at the door. She wasn't expecting anyone. She went over and opened it to find Hogan standing outside.
"Guten Tag Fraülein. Can I come in?"
"Hogan what are you doing here? How did you find out where I live?"
"Simple, I saw you leave and trailed you. Don't worry, this will be a once off visit." he said.
Emma wasn't sure what else to do except let him in. Hesitantly, she stepped aside and he entered.
"My this is quite a nice place." he said. Sitting down at the living room table.
"What are you doing here exactly?" Emma asked, joining him.
"Straight to the point; I like that. How would you like to be a part of something much bigger than you ever thought you'd be a part of?" Hogan said.
Emma thought for a moment. "Wait, are you asking me to join you? I can't do that!"
"Why not?"
"Because I work for the Kommandant and... Well... I'm not a fighter, I don't even have the nerve to fire a gun."
"Well, you won't have to and the Kommandant doesn't have to know."
"I just can't!" he could hear by her tone that she was afraid to do so. She'd always known the Reich and the Führer's ways to be right. And she knew it was dangerous opposing them.
"Emma..." he said calmly. "You've thought it over, all that I've told you. Don't you see something wrong with it?"
She sighed, reluctant to face it. "I guess so. But I can't just join you. What if the Kommandant finds out, or if someone else does."
"Aufswade wouldn't find out. I have been openly getting information out of him for 2 years and he hasn't figured it out. Besides as far as he's concerned you hate me and are very violent against me, so why would you join me? And if someone finds out we'll protect you."
"Really? You would?"
"It wouldn't be the first time. You know Marcel Augustine, the French baker down the road from the office?"
"Yes, I do."
"A Gestapo officer got suspicious of him one time. Unfortunately for the officer Augustine was one of mine. To make a long story short that officer was arrested by Himmler himself for leaking Gestapo papers to the resistance. Of course the evidence was all planted and fake but Hitler and his goons don't know any better."
Emma sighed. A part of her wanted to say yes. But was she ready for all this. "I don't know."
"You wouldn't have to do anything extreme. Heck, you'll primarily be letting me waltz into Aufswade's office anytime I need to. Tell you what, I'll give you time to think about it. Maybe when I see you again you'll have an answer." he said standing up. "Well, thanks for letting me visit."
"Well um... You're welcome." Emma said.
"See you around sweetheart." he said before leaving. Emma just stood there, as if not sure what to do. A man who was supposed to be her enemy had literally just walked in, offered her a "job" and then left. Could she say no? That wouldn't stop him from continuously coming in. She couldn't stop him. And if what he said about protecting her was true, then what did she have to fear. Besides, she liked seeing him, and maybe she'd enjoy working with him.
