Boom 💥. The words struck like a lightning bolt.

Uncle Xiao’s face turned ghostly white. Madam Xiao swayed as if she might faint. The entire hall was dead silent except for the eunuch’s voice, echoing in their ears. Then the eunuch slowly raised his head, eyes narrowing toward Jungkook’s direction.

Gasps echoed throughout the room as Jungkook dashed toward the doorway, his long robes fluttering wildly, looking like a fairy caught in a storm.

“Stop him!” the eunuch barked sharply, his voice laced with cold fury. Guards surged forward instantly.

Within seconds, Jungkook was caught mid-run, his arms still clutching Baobao tightly as he kicked and thrashed like a mad cat.

“Let me go, you pigs!” Jungkook screamed, struggling violently as the guards dragged him back.

“I won’t accept it! I won’t! I refuse! I’ll burn that damn decree myself!

You think I care about your stupid emperor?! Hah, I see who DARES to make me go!”

Madam Xiao’s face had gone completely white, her voice trembling as she rushed to smooth things over.

“P-Please, Your Excellency, forgive him! Our Jungkook is just a bit… overly excited! Yes, just… excited from the sudden honor!”

The tension in the hall could snap at any moment. Then suddenly, a soft, sweet voice chimed in, breaking the suffocating silence.

She lowered her head respectfully before the eunuch, her serene expression hiding something unreadable.

He handed the decree to Meili, his lips curling into a faint, knowing smile. Without another word, the eunuch turned gracefully and walked out, the guards following closely behind.

But just before he exited the hall, the eunuch glanced back over his shoulder—his gaze falling directly on Jungkook

Who was still being restrained by the guards, his beautiful face flushed with fury, lips red from shouting, his doe-like eyes wide with rebellion.

A faint, almost amused smirk tugged at the eunuch’s lips before he finally disappeared beyond the doors.

The guards released Jungkook at last, leaving him collapsed on the floor, panting heavily, his chest rising and falling with rage.

“Thieves! Bandits! Shameless scoundrels!” Jungkook cursed loudly, still clutching Baobao tightly.

“I will NEVER go to that palace!”

But deep down, he could feel it. His life had just been completely overturned. And there was no escape now.
