Episode Title: "Flat Broke and Fully Screwed"

Kate had officially hit rock bottom. Not the emotional rock bottom—she passed that when she signed her divorce papers—but the financial kind. Her bank account was practically mocking her, and rent was due in a week.

Vanessa, sitting across from her in their tiny apartment, scrolled through her phone and sighed. “Well, unless you wanna start selling feet pics, we need to make money fast.”

Kate groaned, flopping back onto the couch. “We work at a café, Vanessa. We should have money.”

Vanessa raised an eyebrow. “Should and do are two very different things. You keep breaking cups, and Milo keeps taking it out of your paycheck.”

Kate sat up, frustrated. “That’s not fair! It’s not like I intentionally drop them!”

Vanessa smirked. “No, you’re just naturally terrible at this job.”

Still, they had no choice. They dragged themselves to Milo’s Café for another exhausting shift.

The Disasters Begin

Customer Service Gone Wrong: A man ordered an oat milk latte, but Kate accidentally gave him whole milk. He took one sip, turned red, and yelled, “I’M LACTOSE INTOLERANT!” He stormed out, threatening to sue. Kate nervously turned to Vanessa. “Should I chase him down or just start packing my things?”

Milo’s Meltdown: After breaking yet another cup, Milo pulled out his notepad. “That’s coming out of your paycheck.” Kate crossed her arms. “Milo, at this point, you owe me money.” He just glared.

Tip Jar Tragedy: They finally managed to get some good tips—until a random guy walked in, pretended to be looking at the menu, and stole the entire jar. Vanessa screamed, “HEY!” and ran after him… only to trip over a mop bucket.

Kate sighed. “Yep. That feels right.”

The Final Disaster: The Health Inspector

Just when they thought the day couldn’t get worse, the health inspector arrived. Vanessa was chewing gum behind the counter, Kate had flour all over her apron, and the espresso machine was making a strange, very concerning noise.

The inspector, a stiff-looking woman with a clipboard, took one glance at the state of the café and frowned.

Kate quickly grabbed Vanessa’s shoulders. “Do not say anything stupid.”

Vanessa grinned. “Ma’am, I can personally assure you that no rats have been seen this week.”

Kate wanted to die.

Milo groaned in frustration as the inspector scribbled something down. “I swear, you two are the reason I drink.”

After the inspector left (with a warning but no fine—miraculously), Vanessa turned to Kate. “That went well.”

Kate gave her a look. “I think I’d rather be broke.”

Vanessa shrugged. “Good thing you already are.”

They walked home in silence, exhausted and defeated. But when they got to their apartment, Vanessa pulled out a bottle of cheap wine. “To another terrible day.”

Kate smirked, clinking her glass against Vanessa’s. “And to barely surviving it.”

They both laughed. Because no matter how bad things got… at least they weren’t going through it alone.
