A fading light
The night air was cold, but Taehyung barely felt it
he said curled up on the balcony floor, his arms wrapped around his knees as he gazed at the stars above
The silent mansion was yearly silent, Sehun was late again.
maybe he was out drinking, maybe he was with someone else
Taehyung didn’t care anymore
He had stopped caring a long time ago
with a slow breath, he reached into his pocket, his fingers brushing against a familiar shape
he pulled out a small worn-out locket and opened it gently
Inside, a tiny picture of two smiling boys stared back at him, and Jungkook was caught in a moment of pure happiness
His lips cured into a small, bittersweet smile as the past came rushing back
soft wrestling of leaves filled the air as Taehyung and Jungkook lay on the grass, staring at the lake in front of them
The sky was painted and hues of orange and pink, reflecting on the water’s surface
Taehyung hummed a little tune, his fingers Idly playing with a blade of grass while Jungkook lay beside him, propped up on one elbow, watching him with a soft smile
Jungkook(past)
Happy Birthday, Tae
Taehyung(past)
(Turned his head to face him, eyes twinkling) Thank you, Kookie
Jungkook(past)
(Grinning) I have something for you
Taehyung(past)
(Eyes widened with excitement) Really?! What is it?
Jungkook(past)
(Chuckling) Close your eyes first
Taehyung pouted, but obeyed, shutting his eyes as Jungkook reached his pocket
A small box was placed in his hands, and he felt his heart race as he slowly opened his eyes
With eager fingers, he lifted the lid, his breath hitching at the sight inside, a delicate locket shining under the fading sunlight
He carefully took it out, opening it to reveal a tiny picture of them together, smiling, carefree, in love
Taehyung remained silent for a moment, tracing the edge of the locket with his fingertips
Jungkook growing nervous, scratched the back of his neck
Jungkook(past)
I know it’s not something fancy… i might not be rich, but i—
Taehyung(past)
(Interrupting, smiling brightly) it’s beautiful, Jungkook
Jungkook blinked as Taehyung looked at him, eyes shimmering with sincerity
Taehyung(past)
I don’t care if it’s expensive or not
Taehyung(past)
What matters is that it’s from you
Taehyung(past)
That makes it special
Jungkook let out a breath he didn’t know he was holding, watching Taehyung eagerly fastened the locket around his neck
He held it up for Jungkook to see, tilting his head slightly
Taehyung(past)
How does it look?
Jungkook’s gaze softened as he admired him
He reached out, brushing his fingers against Taehyung’s cheek
Jungkook(past)
Even more beautiful now that you’re wearing it
Taehyung’s cheeks flushed deep pink, and before he could react, Jungkook leaned in, pressing a gentle kiss to his lips
Jungkook(past)
Happy Birthday, my love
Taehyung melted into the kiss, his fingers curling into Jungkook’s shirt
In that moment, nothing else mattered
Just them, the sunset, and the quiet promise that their love would last forver
Taehyung exhaled shakily as he clutched the locket to his chest
The memories felt like a cruel dream now, teasing him with a happiness he could never have again
His reality was cold, painful and lonely
But as he sat there under the starlit sky, he let himself believe, just for a moment that maybe, somewhat out there, Jungkook was thinking about him too
A sudden thud sound pulled him out of his thoughts
His body tensed as he quickly stood up, his heart pounding
Turning around, he saw Sehun stumbling into the mansion, reeking of alchohol, his eyes filled with rage
SEHUN
(Slurring, angry) you… YOU’RE THE REASON FOR EVERYTHING!
Taehyung froze, his pulse quickening
TAEHYUNG
(Whispers) S-Sehun…
SEHUN
Do you even realise what you’ve done?!
SEHUN
THAT DAMN POKER GAME, all my money….
Taehyung swallowed hard, stepping back, instinctively, his hands trembling
Sehun’s glare darkened before he suddenly lunged forward, grabbing Taehyung’s hair and yanking him inside the room
Taehyung gasped in pain, his scalp burning from the rough pull
He barely had time to react before Sehun threw him onto the bed
Fear paralysed him as Sehun unbuckled his belt
TAEHYUNG
(Pleading, voice breaking) please… please, don’t…
But Sehun was unstoppable
The belt lashed against his skin, each strike sending waves of pain through his already bruised body
Taehyung curled up, his hands shielding himself as best as he could, but nothing could stop the torment
He cried out, begging, but Sehun didn’t stop until he was too exhausted to continue
Finally Sehun let out a satisfied grunt and gripped Taehyung by the wrist, dragging him off the bed and throwing him to the cold floor
SEHUN
That’s where you belong
With that, he staggered onto the bed and passed out, his snore filling the room
Taehyung curled up in a corner, his arms wrapped around himself as he trembled
Tears streamed down his face, silent sobs rocking his body
He clutched the locket tightly, pressing it against his chest like a lifeline
TAEHYUNG
(Whispering, brokenly) Jungkook… i miss you…
TAEHYUNG
I need you… please
The night stretched on, cold and unforgiving, as Taehyung wept in silence, drowning in his pain and longing for the one person who once made him feel safe
Meanwhile, in another part of the city, Jungkook woke up with a start, his breathing erratic, his heart hammering against his chest
Sweat lined his forehead as his alpha instincts screamed at him, something deep inside telling him that something was wrong
He ran a shaky hand through his hair, looking around dimly lit room
His eyes landed on the bottle of sleeping pills on the nightstand
Without hesitation, he grabbed it and swallowed a few pills dry, trying to calm himself down
JUNGKOOK
(Muttering to himself, voice hallow) what the hell is wrong with me…
Lying back down he exhaled heavily, but the unsettling feeling in his guts refused to fade
As he drifted into another restless sleep, Taehyung’s name echoed in his mind, filling the empty silence of the night
