Before Jimin could finish speaking, a loud thunderclap struck nearby. Jimin flinched slightly at the sound, and the cat curled up in fear, burying its face in his arms.

Tae quickly turned off the lamp on the table, plunging the room into darkness. Lighting a lantern, he stepped out of the room and said,

Don’t worry. Grandpa probably went to the market to get feed for the chickens and ducks. He’ll be back once the rain stops.

Jimin said nothing as Tae led him to study. The cat, now off his lap, played with its own shadow on the wall under the lantern’s glow—its usual game. Tae glanced at the wall clock. It was 7:30 PM. He was growing worried about Jhope. The man had aged, and such hard work wasn’t good for his health.

By God’s grace, Jhope had avoided major illnesses, but age was catching up to him. Just as Tae was lost in thought, a knock echoed from the front door. It must be Grandpa.

Taehyung

Grandpa! You’re soaked from the rain! Go take a bath quickly. I’ll make some tea.

Jhope

**chuckled** No need to worry. I just got caught in the rain. Drying my head will be enough.

Ignoring his words, Tae sent him off to bathe and went to the kitchen to prepare tea. His heart ached seeing Jhope so exhausted—age was taking its toll.

Determined, Tae decided he would handle all the household and outdoor chores from now on. He wouldn’t let Jhope struggle anymore. He had already lost his parents and Namjoon. He couldn’t bear to lose anyone else. Now, Jhope and Jimin were his only reason to keep going.




