Namjoon's Dairy

The sky darkened as stormy winds blew. Jimin had gone out after lunch—no one knew where.
He had let the butterfly escape from his jar. Watching it struggle felt cruel, but now that it was gone, he felt empty. Tae distracted him with stories until he started playing with their cat.
As the wind grew stronger, Tae shut all the windows. Grandpa’s study, hidden in shadows, turned pitch dark as he closed the last one.
Tae lit the lamp, revealing an old, tattered journal. He found it while cleaning. Curious, he sat down and opened it.
KIM NAMJOON . His grandfather’s diary! The first lines read:

April 7, 1798 We reached Romania, crossing the Black Sea from Ukraine. Last night, five of us stayed at an inn in Bucharest. My wolves remained outside.

The innkeeper, Petro, and his daughter welcomed us. My companions slept, but I couldn’t. Restless, I spent the night talking to Petro.

Petro, a local innkeeper, lost his wife to a wolf attack seven years ago. His daughter, Priscilla, often brought me tea.

He shared Romania’s history—once under Ottoman rule, it fought for independence in the 15th century. Vlad Dracula, ruler of Wallachia, impaled 20,000 Turks along the Danube and was rumored to drink blood. Could he have been a vampire? When I mentioned our mission, fear flashed across Petro’s face, and he refused to speak further.

April 8, 1798 At dawn, we set off for Mos Swamp Forest, a vast, dark woodland where sunlight barely reaches. We set up camp deep inside, preparing for our vampire hunt.

Nearby lies an ancient cemetery—our destination tonight. Around our tents, we hung garlic, a vampire’s greatest weakness. Villagers also use garlic, fire, salt, and iron to keep vampires away, sealing their homes before sunset.

In fear of vampires, nearly every house in Romania hangs garlic on their doors. Villagers are more cautious than city dwellers—they never open doors before sunrise and seal their homes at sunset. To ward off vampires, they also use fire, salt, and iron.

A sharp hammering sound caught my attention. Vadim was driving an iron nail into a wooden stake. These cross-shaped stakes are used to pierce a vampire’s heart, ensuring its end. Another "NOSFERATU", a Hungarian-Romanian word meaning "bloodsucking fiend", was wiped from existence.

Hearing Jimin’s call, Tae looked up from the diary and turned around. Jimin stood at the study room door, holding his pet cat.
Placing the diary back in its place, Tae got up from the chair and asked
