A Taste Of Darkness
The room felt smaller, the air thicker. Nibash’s pulse pounded in his ears as he stared at the mark on Vikki’s chest. A blood oath? Tied to him? It was impossible. It had to be.
Nibash took a shaky step back.
Vikki chuckled, the sound low and rich.
His crimson eyes gleamed under the dim light as he stepped closer, slow and deliberate, like a predator savoring the fear of its prey.
Nibash forced himself to stand his ground.
Nibash
I don’t even know you. How the hell can I be ‘tied’ to you?
Vikki tilted his head, studying him with something between amusement and frustration.
Vikki
I don’t expect you to understand yet, little one.
Nibash
Stop calling me that.
Vikki
What should I call you, then? Mine?
A shiver ran down Nibash’s spine, and Vikki noticed.
Vikki murmured, stepping even closer.
Vikki
You do feel it, don’t you?
Nibash clenched his fists.
Nibash
I don’t feel anything.
Vikki let out a slow breath, shaking his head as if disappointed.
Vikki
You really are stubborn.
Vikki’s gaze darkened, a flicker of something dangerous passing through his eyes.
Vikki
Then let me show you.
Before Nibash could react, Vikki moved—too fast, too smooth, too inhuman.
One second, he was standing a few feet away. The next, he was right in front of Nibash, their bodies nearly touching.
Nibash sucked in a sharp breath, his instincts screaming to fight, to push Vikki away—but he didn’t move.
Vikki reached out, fingers brushing against Nibash’s wrist. A jolt of something electric shot up Nibash’s arm. It wasn’t painful, but it was intense. Like something inside him had been set on fire.
Vikki’s lips curled into a knowing smile.
Vikki
You feel it now, don’t you?
Nibash
What… what the hell was that?”
Vikki’s fingers lingered against his skin for a moment longer before pulling away.
Before he could finish, Vikki’s gaze flickered to his throat.
Something in Vikki’s expression changed. The amusement faded, replaced by something deeper, something primal.
A sharp, aching kind of hunger that sent a chill through Nibash’s veins.
Vikki took a slow breath, as if steadying himself.
Nibash’s stomach flipped.
Vikki let out a humorless chuckle, running a hand through his dark hair.
Vikki
You don’t understand what you are to me, Nibash. What your blood means.
Nibash’s throat went dry.
Nibash
And what does it mean?
Vikki’s gaze locked onto his, intense and unrelenting.
Vikki
It means I’ve been starving for centuries… and you’re the only thing that can satisfy me.
A shiver ran through Nibash.
he said, though his voice wasn’t as strong as he wanted it to be.
Vikki stepped closer again, forcing Nibash to back up until he hit the wall.
Nibash
No shit I’m scared!
And then, in one swift motion, Vikki leaned in—his lips just barely grazing the side of Nibash’s neck.
Nibash’s breath caught. His body went rigid.
He should push him away. He should fight back.
But instead, a traitorous heat curled in his stomach.
Vikki’s lips ghosted over his pulse.
Nibash clenched his fists.
Vikki exhaled, his breath warm against Nibash’s skin.
Nibash let out a breath he didn’t realize he was holding. His body trembled slightly, but he forced himself to meet Vikki’s gaze.
Something flickered in Vikki’s eyes. Something almost… fond.
Vikki
You really are something, little one.
Nibash
I told you not to call me that.
Vikki chuckled, stepping back fully.
Nibash’s shoulders relaxed, but the tension in the room remained.
Nibash
This bond or whatever it is
Nibash said, trying to steady his voice.
Nibash
It doesn’t mean you get to own me.
Vikki
Are you sure about that?
Vikki hummed, as if considering something. Then he leaned in just slightly, his voice dropping to a whisper.
Vikki
We’ll see about that.
Nibash’s stomach twisted.
He had a feeling he was in far deeper than he realized.
