Episode 31

Almost a month had passed, and so far everything was going well. He worked at the pastry shop part-time from eight in the morning until noon. At first, he thought they would fire him after the first day, and although he felt out of place at the beginning, he was now genuinely happy.

He was in charge of filling the display cases as products were sold and attending to customers. Only two other people worked there: the pastry chef, a beta around forty years old whose passion was baking sweets and bread, and an older omega in her sixties, the owner of the place, who stayed at the cash register and managed the pastry shop.

The atmosphere was very welcoming, and despite his lack of work experience, she agreed to hire him because she said he reminded her of her late son. Skylar didn't want to take advantage of that to do a bad job, so he was determined to learn quickly.

The place had its regular customers, but being so small, it went unnoticed, and it was rare for strangers to come. With Skylar's arrival, it was different. Like a small flickering light and the people were moths, new customers came to the store, people who came for the attractive young man who attended so kindly.

Mrs. Smith was so happy that every day she asked him to take a different cake as a thank you.

"I'm really the one who's grateful, you gave me the job when I had no experience," the omega smiled gratefully.

"Son, I'm the one who's grateful. Thanks to you, more people are coming now and the business is doing better. You can take whatever you want to eat," the woman smiled kindly.

"Mmm, if I take a daily sweet, I'll end up rolling around hahaha, they're too delicious. But could I ask you a favor... I've been working here for a month now, I'd like you to try one of my desserts," Skylar said shyly.

The omega, surprised by the request and touched by his shyness, accepted without hesitation. On the way home, Skylar couldn't contain his happiness, you could say he was skipping.
