Chapter 2: The Warning
(Aurora's pulse quickens, a wave of unease washing over her. The name Alessandro De Luca sounds familiar powerful, intimidating, and dangerous. Whispers of his influence echo through the city, though no one ever speaks openly about him. And now, here he is, sitting in a luxury car, commanding her to get in.)
Aurora Evans (fl)
(nervously) I don't know what kind of game this is, but I'm not playing.
Aurora Evans (fl)
Leave me alone.
Alessandro De Luca (ml)
Piccola, the streets are dangerous at night.
Alessandro De Luca (ml)
And you're far too fragile to be walking alone.
Aurora Evans (fl)
I'm not fragile. And I'm not afraid.
Alessandro De Luca (ml)
You should be.
(His voice is calm, but the threat lingers just beneath the surface. Aurora takes a shaky breath, determined not to show weakness.)
Aurora Evans (fl)
I'll be fine.
(Aurora turns on her heel, ready to walk away, but Alessandro speaks again, his tone darker, colder.)
Alessandro De Luca (ml)
Aurora, your family won't come looking for you if something happens tonight.🥶
Alessandro De Luca (ml)
They never do, do they?🥶
(Her steps falter. The truth of his words stings more than she'd like to admit. Her parents rarely cared where she was or how she got home. She swallows the lump forming in her throat.)
Aurora Evans (fl)
(Hesitantly) How do you know that?
Alessandro De Luca (ml)
Like I said, I know everything about you.
(The car door clicks softly as the driver steps out and opens it, waiting silently. Alessandro's intense gaze never wavers, locking her in place.)
Alessandro De Luca (ml)
I'm giving you a choice, piccola.
Alessandro De Luca (ml)
Get in the car, or take your chances out here
(The night air grows colder. Aurora's instincts scream at her to run, but there's something unsettlingly reassuring about his certainty. He's dangerous, yes-but safe in a way her family never was. After a long, tense moment, she clenches her fists and makes a decision.)
Aurora Evans (fl)
(murmur) This is the worst idea ever.
(Reluctantly, she steps toward the car, slipping inside. The door closes behind her with a soft thud, sealing her fate.)
Aurora Evans (fl)
(Muttering under her breath) You better not be some psycho.
Alessandro De Luca (ml)
If I were, bella,
(If I were, bella, he's implying that if he were a psycho (someone dangerous and uncontrollable), Aurora wouldn't have had the option to refuse or escape. He's suggesting that if he were truly dangerous, she wouldn't have any control over the situation-he would already have taken her in whatever way he chose.)
(The use of "bella" (meaning "beautiful" in Italian) adds a layer of possessiveness to his statement, reinforcing his control over the situation and his dominance.)
Alessandro De Luca (ml)
You wouldn't have had a choice.
(His words send a shiver down her spine, but Aurora refuses to show fear. The car pulls away from the curb, carrying her toward the unknown.)
