New Era? #4
The next room was a training chamber, lined with projection panels and virtual constructs ready for simulations. Zara led Micro inside, his expression serious.
Zara
"This is where you'll test it. The X_Server isn’t just power—it's access."
Zara tapped a terminal, and the room flickered, generating several virus-like entities—shadows of corrupted code, glitching and snarling at Micro.
Zara
"These are low-tier simulations of Xaruma’s corruption. Let’s see if the X_Server responds."
Micro raised his hand instinctively, and without speaking, a sharp holographic interface blinked to life around his fingers. Strings of code, like data-wires, shot out from his fingers and binding onto one of the virus entities
Zara
I didn't expect it, Interesting.
The strings pulsed with blue energy, and the virus began to glitch heavily, its corrupted form reverting to clean, pure data before dissolving
Zara
The X_Server lets you overwrite or restore system file. But remember—this is only a fragment of its potential."
Another virus lunged toward Micro, but this time, the interface reacted on its own, deploying a Fatal Spike, piercing the virus cleanly with sharp digital energy, deleting it instantly
Micro
"This is... incredible."
Zara
"And that’s just defensive. Once you fully sync, you’ll be able to access system files, close corrupted pathways, or even lock Xaruma’s minions in loops they can’t escape."
As the final simulation charged forward, Micro instinctively called out:
Micro
That sharp stuff coming out in the ground, I should name it... "Fatal Spike" ... sounds good to me, and this!
Micro
Haha... Fatal Blaster!
The virus froze mid-air, its code unraveling as if a hidden command had rewritten its behavior. The large blue beam vaporized the viruses instantaneous
Zara
"You’re catching on faster than I thought."
Micro
"...I think I’m ready."
Zara
I've something to show you.
Micro, still catching his breath after the intense training simulation, nodded. Zara walked ahead, his steps calm but deliberate. Micro followed as the walls of the simulation room began to pixelate and fade into lines of code, disassembling into a stream of blue light
They stepped through the dissolving walls and exited the simulation chamber. The chamber’s doorway led them into a long, dimly lit corridor, humming faintly with energy. The corridor was part of Zara’s hidden shelter, a place buried deep beneath the crumbling ruins of the First File.
As they walked through the metallic hallway, Micro glanced at the walls lined with glowing circuit patterns. The shelter felt like a bunker, reinforced with layers of future advance cybernetic plating and shielded with protective encryption fields.
Zara
This place used to be a forgotten data vault… until I repurposed it as a safe zone.
They reached the end of the hallway where a heavy steel door stood. Zara pressed his hand against a scanner, and the door opened with a hiss. On the other side was a small elevator chamber.
The elevator ascended smoothly, the soft hum of machinery echoing as they moved upward. After a short ride, the elevator doors slid open, revealing a passageway bathed in natural light
They stepped outside. The cold air greeted them as they exited Zara's hidden shelter. The outside world was harsh—broken code structures, corrupted data fields, and towering remnants of the old cybernetic city stretched out before them under a glitching
Zara
There’s something out here you need to see… something important.
Micro
What kind of mission did you mean, Zara?
The bunch of corrupted spiders circumjected both of them, Micro was panicked and paralyzed
Micro
Zara! What the hell!!! These things are going to kill us! Did you take me here!? A real quick to face it!?
Zara remained calm, almost unbothered by the swarming creatures. He looked over at Micro with a smirk, his confidence radiating despite the chaotic situation.
Zara
"Chill, my guy. You’ve got this. Just breathe and focus."
Micro's panicked breaths were shallow as he glanced around, the spiders moving closer, their glowing red eyes locking onto him.
Micro
Focus?! How am I supposed to focus with these things crawling all over us?! I can’t even move! This is real!? The simulation was a different act!?
Zara sighed, stepping forward without hesitation. He waved his hand dismissively, as if the spiders weren’t even a threat.
Zara
These things are just corrupted code. They’re not real threats if you fix them like you did at your simulation . You’re a Cyber Device, remember? You can heal code. Stop panicking, and tap into your X_Server.
Micro’s mind raced. Zara was right. He had the power to heal code. But the fear still gripped him, holding him in place.
Zara
"Come on, Micro. Snap out of it! You can do this. I’m not gonna let these bugs get to you."
Micro took a deep breath, trying to shake off his paralysis. He could feel the pressure, but slowly, the fog of panic began to clear.
Micro
"Right... right. I’ve got this."
He closed his eyes, summoning the power of the X_Server. The moment he focused, the corrupted spiders seemed to slow down, their movements becoming more predictable. He stretched out his hand, concentrating on the code, and a surge of energy pulsed through him.
With a snap of his fingers, the code around the spiders began to flicker and distort, unraveling their corrupted forms. The spiders dissolved one by one, leaving nothing but harmless data behind.
Zara
"See? That wasn’t so hard, was it?"
Micro
That was way too close. But... I did it...
Zara
It seems the X_Server proliferated your knowledge.
The hologram screen appeared on Zara's hand
Micro
Wait a second!? Y-you als...
Zara
The V_Server, which allows me to damage any files I choose.
Zara
X_Server and V_Server is the advanced weapon that I have ever created
Zara
But I've limited the source of data.
Micro
Who are you exactly?
Zara
Have you forgotten my name?
Zara
I am the creator of "Bio-Code" which you're using now.
Zara
But Xaruma had stolen it and only X_Server and V_Server survived.
Zara
Yet he may wield that new strength to traverse other files and conquer it.
Micro
How... many are they?
Zara
I couldn't elucidate, I've never done it.
