New Parts #3
The heavy metal doors slid open with a hiss, revealing Zara's hidden refuge. The space was massive, filled with rows of advanced terminals, glowing monitors, and cables running through the ceiling like arteries. Blue lights softly pulsed across the room, giving the shelter a sterile but calm atmosphere
Micro
"This place... it's huge."
Micro
Isn't this room for serviced?
Zara
"It has to be. It’s one of the last safe zones from Xaruma’s corruption."
Zara
And Indeed, I've fabricated the X_Server's chip.
Micro nervously obeyed, sitting on the strange medical chair surrounded by glowing monitors and buzzing machines.
Zara gently took his hand and pressed lightly on one of his fingers. Suddenly, a translucent blue hologram flickered to life, displaying Micro's 'Slot Inventory'.
Micro
"I-I could do this all along!?"
Micro
I-I actually can do this!?
Zara
"All Cyber Devices can. You just... didn’t know how to access it yet."
Zara set the X_Server within the Slot Inventory and gently swiped her hand, closing the hologram. A soft hum vibrated through Micro's body as the chip settled inside his system
Micro
"W-What now? Is it... active?"
Zara
"Not yet. The chip needs time to synchronize with your file system. Once it's ready, you’ll feel it. Like a new instinct."
Micro clenched his hand, feeling an unfamiliar warmth pulsing deep inside him.
Micro
"I hope I’m ready for this."
Zara
"You will be. And when it activates... You’ll finally be able to stand against Xaruma. But... That doesn’t mean we’ll prevail. It’s just a chance... Perhaps... 1%."
The air grew colder than her words sank in. The soft hum around them turned into a low mechanical growl as the diagnostics deepened, scanning every line of Micro’s code. Micro’s gaze dropped, his thoughts racing
Micro
"1% is better than nothing…"
Zara quietly nodded, her expression both hopeful and burdened.
As Zara finalized the setup, Micro’s system suddenly flickered. His vision distorted for a second as red error messages blinked across his interface.
Micro
[WARNING: SYSTEM SYNC INCOMPLETE]
[CORE STABLITY: 68% - FLUCTUATING.]
Micro clenched his fists, feeling a strange static crawling under his skin. It wasn’t just fear—it was the sense that his very code was shifting
Micro
"Zara... is this normal?"
Zara hesitated, his hand tightening around a nearby console. For a moment, he avoided his eyes.
Zara
"...It's unstable at first. But you can handle it. The X_Server wasn’t made for everyone, Micro. But you’re... different."
Micro’s chest felt heavy. His memories of Xaruma’s chaos flooded his mind—the destruction, the corruption. A 1% chance suddenly felt like both hope and a curse.
In the corner, the diagnostic screen beeps softly, showing the X_Server partially integrating into Micro’s Slot Inventory.
Micro
[X_SERVER: 43% INSTALLED.]
Zara finally forced a small smile, though it didn’t reach his eyes.
Zara
"After this... you’ll hold the key to your own destiny."
Micro’s breathing steadied as he watched the blue circuits trace along his arm like veins, spreading the energy from the Slot Inventory deeper into his system.
The room dimmed slightly as the interface holograms shifted into sharp focus. The hum turned into a low pulse, syncing with Micro’s heartbeat.
Micro
[X_SERVER: 71% INSTALLED.]
Suddenly, Micro winced as a surge of data flooded his mind—memories, commands, fragmented codes flashing too fast to process.
Micro
"It’s... it’s overwhelming."
Zara
"That’s normal. The X_Server is trying to adapt to you. Don’t fight it—guide it."
Micro gritted his teeth, closing his eyes, focusing on the memory of Xaruma’s corruption, the tunnels, the fear... and his friends. Slowly, the flood began to settle
[X_SERVER: 94% INSTALLED]
Then, silence. The room returned to its calm hum, and the error messages disappeared.
Micro
[X_SERVER: INSTALLATION COMPLETE.]
Zara sighed in relief, stepping back, watching him carefully.
Zara
"It’s done… Micro, how do you feel?"
Micro opened his eyes, a faint glow in them as if something inside had finally awakened.
Micro
"...Like I just woke up for the first time."
