Noah turned and noticed Damian standing there, holding a baby bottle, watching him quietly. Damian walked over and held out the bottle. Noah glanced at it, surprised by how well it was made.
“She stopped crying,” Damian said with a small smile. “I made the formula.”
Damian reached out to take the baby, but she scrunched up her face and let out a little grumble, clearly unhappy about being moved.
“Ah, it’s okay—give it here,” Noah said, taking the bottle from Damian. He opened the cover, tipped a little milk onto the back of his hand, then tasted it.
Damian furrowed his brows, confused. “What are you doing?”
“Testing the formula,” Noah replied casually, as he started feeding the baby. The toddler eagerly latched onto the bottle, making soft, happy noises.
Damian raised an eyebrow. “Wow, you’re really good at this. You even got her to stop crying.”
“Well, I helped my mom with my siblings a lot,” Noah said nonchalantly.
“Oh yeah?” Damian muttered, watching the baby drink her bottle with adorable determination.
“Aw, she’s so cute,” Noah added, his voice softer now as he admired her tiny, innocent face.
After feeding and burping her, Noah managed to put the baby back to sleep. Once she was settled, he and Damian sat at the kitchen table, the atmosphere finally calm.
“So,” Noah started, folding his arms on the table. “Where did this baby come from, Damian? How did this happen?”
Damian sighed deeply, running a hand through his hair. “I don’t know, okay? It all happened so suddenly.”
He paused for a moment before continuing, his voice quieter now. “Do you remember the night I got invited out for drinks after finals ended?”
Noah nodded, raising an eyebrow.
“Well...”
Flashback:
Outside the college, students gathered in groups, chatting about how they did on their finals. Damian was heading for the door when someone called out to him.
“HEY, DAMIAN!”
He turned and saw a group of his acquaintances waving him over.
“Yo, there’s a crazy party tonight at my dad’s club! You wanna come? We’ve got tickets!”
“Nah,” Damian said, shaking his head. “I was planning to stay home tonight.”
“Dude, come on! Exams are over! You deserve to cut loose!” They urged him, one after another.
“Fine,” Damian sighed. “I’ll be there.”
That night, Damian found himself drinking more than he intended. They played endless drinking games, and the night blurred into a haze. The last thing he remembered was stumbling out of the club with a girl before waking up in a hotel room the next morning, his head pounding and his body aching.
“Shit,” Damian muttered, staring at the unfamiliar room. He felt anger bubbling inside him. What the hell happened last night?
He confronted the friends he’d gone out with, but their answers frustrated him further. They told him he’d gotten drunk and left with a blonde girl—“a cute one, to be fair,” one of them had added.
Damian didn’t care about their opinions. He was furious. Did I really lose my V-card to some random stranger? Worse, his mind drifted to Noah. He shook the thought away and told himself to forget about the night.
Months passed, and Damian had buried the incident deep in his mind. Life had returned to normal until one fateful evening when he was heading home.
As he approached his apartment, he noticed someone standing suspiciously by his door, their figure shrouded in a hoodie.
“Hey, are you trying to break in?” Damian shouted, rushing toward them.
The figure startled and clutched something in their hands. Damian grabbed their shoulder, spinning them around. His breath hitched.
“A woman?” he muttered. His eyes flicked to the bundle in her arms. She was holding... something.
