Arrange Marriage: Bound By Hate
Chapter 3
The following days felt like a blur for Taehyung. Every time he tried to push the idea of the forced marriage out of his mind, it came rushing back, making him angry all over again. He had a hard time sleeping, his mind filled with thoughts of Jungkook, of their families’ plans, and the marriage that now loomed over him like an unavoidable storm.
Taehyung wasn’t used to feeling helpless. He had always been in control of his life. But now, it felt like his fate was being dictated by people who didn’t care about his feelings. And what was worse? He had to go through it with Jungkook, of all people.
Taehyung sat at his desk, staring at his textbooks. His brother had tried to talk some sense into him, telling him to calm down, but Taehyung could barely focus on his studies. He just couldn’t stop thinking about the upcoming marriage.
His phone buzzed, breaking his train of thought. He frowned when he saw the name on the screen—Jungkook. He wasn’t in the mood to deal with him, but he knew he couldn’t ignore it forever.
With a sigh, he answered.
Kim Taehyung
What do you want?
Jeon Jungkook
Still angry, I see,
Jungkook’s voice came through, smooth and unbothered.
Jeon Jungkook
I’ve been trying to reach you. We need to discuss how this is going to work.
Taehyung could practically hear the smirk in his voice, and it made his blood boil.
Kim Taehyung
There’s nothing to discuss,
Kim Taehyung
We both know I’m not going to just roll over and accept this.
Jeon Jungkook
I didn’t ask you to,
Jeon Jungkook
I’m not asking you to be a puppy. I’m just trying to figure out how we can make this work without making it worse than it already is.
Kim Taehyung
Make it work? We can’t even be in the same room without wanting to rip each other’s throats out.
Jungkook was quiet for a moment, and Taehyung almost thought he had hung up. But then, Jungkook spoke again, more seriously this time.
Jeon Jungkook
I know it’s not easy for you. It’s not easy for me either. But we both have our pride. The more we fight, the worse it’ll be for both of us. I’m offering you a chance to make this work. You might not like it, but we need to do this for the sake of our families.
Kim Taehyung
I don’t care about your families,
Kim Taehyung
I care about my life, and this marriage is not a part of it.
Jungkook’s voice softened, though it was still firm.
Jeon Jungkook
It’s already a part of it. Whether you like it or not, we’re stuck with each other.
Taehyung gritted his teeth, his temper flaring once more.
He said, forcing the words out through clenched teeth.
Kim Taehyung
But I’m not going to make this easy for you.
Jeon Jungkook
I never thought you would.
Before Taehyung could say anything else, the call ended. He stared at the phone in his hand, feeling a mix of frustration and helplessness. Jungkook had a way of getting under his skin, of making him feel like everything he said or did was useless.
Later that evening, Taehyung’s mother called him down to dinner. He reluctantly left his room, trying to push away the anger still simmering inside him. As he walked into the dining room, his father gave him a stern look.
His father ordered, motioning to the empty seat at the table.
Taehyung took his place, eyes avoiding his father’s gaze. His mother served dinner, but the tension in the room was thick. Nobody spoke at first. His younger sister was on her phone, seemingly unaffected by the drama surrounding the marriage, while his father’s eyes never left Taehyung.
Finally, his father spoke.
Mr Kim
You’ll be meeting with Jungkook’s family next week. It’s time to start preparing for the wedding.
Taehyung’s fork clinked against his plate as he set it down with a hard look.
Kim Taehyung
I’m not going to the meeting,
His father said in a low voice, his tone leaving no room for argument.
Kim Taehyung
I don’t care. I won’t do it.
Mr Kim
You’ll do as you’re told, Taehyung,❄️
Mr Kim
Do not make this harder than it has to be.
Taehyung felt his chest tighten with frustration.
Kim Taehyung
Why are you doing this?
He asked quietly, his voice cracking slightly.
Kim Taehyung
Why are you forcing me into a marriage with someone I hate? Don’t I get any say in my life?
His father’s gaze softened, but his voice remained firm.
Mr Kim
This is for the good of the family. You’re being selfish right now, Taehyung. You need to think beyond your own feelings.
Taehyung stood up abruptly, his chair scraping loudly against the floor.
Kim Taehyung
I’m done talking about this,
He muttered, walking out of the room without another word.
As Taehyung walked back to his room, his mind raced. His father’s words echoed in his head: -Think beyond your own feelings.-
How could he? How could anyone expect him to just forget his anger, his resentment? He didn’t want to be part of this marriage, but he had no choice. He was trapped, with no way out.
The only thing he knew for sure was that he couldn’t trust Jungkook. He didn’t care if Jungkook was trying to make things work. Taehyung had his own plan — if he had to marry him, he would make it as miserable as possible.
