Cannon Fodder's Time Has Come
4
Morning sunlight streams through the classroom windows as Jeon Jungkook leans against his desk, half-asleep, completely indifferent to the day’s lessons. Suddenly, a loud commotion jolts him awake.
Jeon Jungkook
*What the hell is all that noise?*
Jeon Jungkook
[He rubs his eyes lazily, glancing out the window. ]
Outside, the air is filled with fluttering debris, sparkling like snow. A closer look reveals that it’s not snow, but shredded paper drifting down like a storm.
Jeon Jungkook
*Summer? Snow? No, this... this is just trash.*
His buddies pull him from his seat, dragging him to the corridor where students have gathered, chattering excitedly.
Friend 1
Look down there, Jungkook! That bastard Jeon Minho is standing in the middle of it all. All his books, destroyed.
friend 2
(smirking) Guess he forgot he’s just an illegitimate kid, huh? The nerve of him, thinking he could go up against you and Hyunwoo. Who gave him such a dumb idea?
Jungkook leans against the corridor railing, his dark eyes narrowing as they focus on Minho’s figure below. Minho stands silently, surrounded by the mess of his ruined textbooks, his shoulders tense but his head held high.
Jeon Jungkook
*So this is what the original owner of this body did, huh? Petty pranks and cruel games. All to put Minho in his place.*
He recalls the memories left behind by the old Jungkook, piecing together the rivalry between Minho and Hyunwoo. A recent dispute over a girl escalated into this mess. The Lord God’s orders had turned Jungkook into a pawn, a tool to torment Minho for Hyunwoo’s benefit.
Friend 1
Seriously, Jungkook. What are we doing next? Splash water? Another fight? The guy’s not gonna learn his place otherwise.
Jeon Jungkook
[His lips curl into a faint, mocking smile as he steps back from the crowd. His voice is calm, but there’s a sharp edge to it.]
Jeon Jungkook
Let him clean up his mess. I’ve got better things to do.
His friends exchange confused looks, but Jungkook’s expression doesn’t leave room for argument.
Jeon Jungkook
*This isn’t my fight, but if you’re going to push me into it, don’t expect me to play by your rules.*
The school courtyard is bustling, students moving in clusters, laughing and chatting. Jungkook leans casually against the railing on the second floor, his gaze locked onto a lone figure standing below—Jeon Minho, his half-brother and the protagonist of this world.
Minho stands tall, his fists clenched tightly, his body tense with barely-contained anger. As if sensing the gaze, Minho looks up. Their eyes meet.
Jungkook’s lips curl into a slow, provocative smile, his dark eyes glinting with amusement. The sight only fuels Minho’s fury, his knuckles whitening as his fists tighten further.
Jeon Jungkook
*If it were anyone else, knowing the future like I do, their first move would be to fix things with Minho. Cozy up to him, hold onto that thick thigh, and ride the protagonist’s coattails to safety.*
Jeon Jungkook
[His smile fades slightly, replaced by an air of quiet defiance.]
Jeon Jungkook
*But that’s not me. I’m not about to bend over backward for anyone. I’m not a puppet—not for the Lord God, not for Minho, not for anyone. My life’s mine to control, no one else’s.*
Jeon Jungkook
[He crosses his arms, tilting his head thoughtfully as he considers his situation. ]
Attaching himself to Minho might save this body’s original fate, but it would come at a price—a future dictated by Minho’s shadow, forever at his mercy.
Jeon Jungkook
[His sharp mind calculates the possibilities, reviewing his plans over and over, ensuring every move creates chaos without tipping the scales too far.]
Jeon Jungkook
*No, I’ll play this my way. I’ll change the fate of this body, twist this world into something unrecognizable, and leave Minho standing, confused and powerless. The Lord God won’t even see it coming.*
His focus returns to Minho, still glaring at him from below. But Jungkook doesn’t react. He simply lets his gaze slide away, as if Minho wasn’t worth another second of his time. He pushes off the railing and walks back inside, a quiet smirk lingering on his face.
The afternoon sun casts long shadows over the school grounds as Jeon Jungkook strides confidently toward a sleek black car parked by the curb. His school uniform is worn with a casual carelessness—a loose black tie against a crisp white shirt, the jacket open and swaying slightly as he walks. The scene is magnetic, and heads turn to watch him pass.
Standing by the car, Kim Taehyung opens the door with a charming smile, his gold-rimmed glasses catching the light.
Kim Taehyung
[Teasingly]Jungkookie, you’ve got quite the fan club. Do you have a girlfriend I should know about?
Jungkook’s smirk falters for just a second. His dark eyes flicker with a memory—one he’d rather forget. In his past life, women were never his preference.
Before the main god trapped him in this interdimensional space, Jungkook was purely gay, he naturally did not like women. But after being loaded into the villain system, he had to compete with protagonists for woman, and sometimes do worse things to woman than a raving beast. God knows that in reality, even if one hundred women stood naked in front of him, he would not be able to get it up.
Taehyung’s funny comment made him remember the past nausea, his gentle smile receded, and he coldly looked into the other’s eyes.
Kim Taehyung
[Taehyung’s brow quirks in mild surprise at the sudden edge in Jungkook’s tone. ]
He studies the young master closely, the change in his usual gentle and clueless persona not lost on him. For a moment, he swears he sees a dangerous glint in those starry eyes—something calculating, something far from the naïve boy he thought he knew.
Before Taehyung can say more, Jungkook shifts his gaze, the sharpness disappearing as quickly as it appeared.
Jeon Jungkook
Let’s go. You don’t need to wait for Minho.
Taehyung nods, his curiosity piqued but unspoken. He starts the engine, guiding the car down the busy streets. The silence between them is broken only by the soft hum of the engine, until Jungkook suddenly leans forward.
The car slows to a halt by the roadside, near a shadowy alley. Taehyung glances at him, confused, as Jungkook rolls down the window and rests an arm casually on the edge.
Jungkook doesn’t respond immediately. Instead, he leans slightly out of the window, a faint smirk tugging at his lips as his gaze locks onto the darkness of the alleyway. His voice is calm, yet there’s an unmistakable undercurrent of mischief.
Jeon Jungkook
Just something I need to check.
Kim Taehyung
[Taehyung’s eyes narrow slightly, suspicion flickering briefly, but he says nothing. He simply observes as Jungkook’s smirk deepens, the confidence radiating from him as tangible as the cooling evening air.]
