All the competitors are lined up in categories.

Zayne and I are in one, as we're both from families already prominent in the Guild. The others are split into to, the "risen" families, are placed in one. There are the most of them, they all have smug looks on their faces, the newest weapons.....

Board members are coming around, stamping our wrists with our names. To help identify us if we get attacked and die....

And we're given name tags.

Zayne Carson

"Good luck, Crow."

I turn to face him.

Sybil Crow

"Good luck, Carson."

We're then ushered into trucks, to be taken to the lower city, outside the protection of the Guild. Where well complete our kill.

This side of the city smells of stale blood and smog from the factories the poor work in...

They're at the most risk for getting turned, they're discarded from society and have no appropriate weapons....I truly feel for them.

But then again, they're the strongest. Because of what they've had to endure in life, it makes them more likely to survive a bite. But then they end up working for the noble vampires and killed by us....

The trucks come to a stop, and we all exit. Guns and weapons in hand, loaded and ready.

Good luck, everyone. When you have succeeded, bring back your vampires heart. This will help us identify their class. In three days, the competition ends, and we will collect you. I hope you all manage to kill one vampire.....

He retreats to the trucks. they drive off, and as I turn around I find everyone has already dispersed.

I know it's our duty to kill vampires....but does no one have second thoughts?

I sigh.

Zayne Carson

"You ready?"

Sybil Crow

"Oh....your still here."

Zayne Carson

"That I am."

Sybil Crow

"Why...?"

He feigns a wounded heart.

Zayne Carson

"You wound me....I simply wanted to see where you'd go."

Sybil Crow

"Why?"

Zayne Carson

"You're a desendant of Van Helsing....surely you have better, more keen vampire hunting instincts than us."

Sybil Crow

"Oh....well, I work better alone...."

Zayne Carson

"Alright, I get it....."

Zayne Carson

"A shame though.....would've liked to see your process."

He grins as he runs off into an abandoned building. I hope he doesn't die....
