Arturo Crow
"Mother!! Sybil's taken my gun again!"
Arturo groans, a childish pout on his face.
Today is Hunter's Day, when all the prestigious hunter families gather in the square and send their eldest children off to hunt vampires. Whoever kills the highest ranking vampire is immediately chosen to be a professional hunter and be a part of the Hunter's Guild.
Sybil Crow
"It's OUR gun, Arturo. Stop acting like a petulant child!"
I say, as I load the gun.
Caitlyn Crow
"Will you two stop arguing? It's supposed to be a celebratory day!"
She gives us a scrutinising glance.
I smile smugly at Arturo.
After all, I am the eldest. It's my day, my turn to become a hunter.
My whole family are hunter's.
Mother.
Father.
Kemp. (My older brother)
I'm under a lot of pressure....not just because of my family...
But because we're desendants of the great Van Helsing himself. It's our duty to become hunters.
Our destiny....
Mother startles me out of my thoughts.

"Stop messing with your brother."
Sybil Crow
"Yes, Mother...."
Arturo grins smugly at me.
This gun was gifted to both him and me by our grandfather.
Caitlyn Crow
"This gun was a gift to both of you, you will share it. Understand?"
Arturo Crow
"Yes, Mother."
She gestures for us to come closer. We both scurry to her side.
Caitlyn Crow
"Now, my dear children..."
We listen intently.
She takes my chin between her dainty gloved forefinger and thumb.

"This is a big day....dear Sybbie WILL be becoming a hunter today."
I smile, the way she taught me. I've been looking forward to this day my whole life....to truly be a part of our families legacy, to be a hunter.

"Now, now, Arty. You'll get your turn next year."

"Now....your father is waiting for us."
She links our arms with hers, and I keep my free hand on my gun.
