Sangeeta sat alone in the dimly lit bedroom, the soft glow of the night lamp casting gentle shadows across the room. She was still adjusting to her new surroundings, trying to find comfort in the quietness that enveloped her. The wedding photo on the wall caught her eye again, and she sighed deeply, her mind wandering back to the day that changed everything.
She stood up slowly, walking towards the window, her fingers lightly brushing the curtains. The cool breeze that slipped through the crack in the window calmed her nerves, but it couldn’t erase the restlessness that had settled in her heart since that fateful day. The weight of the sindoor on her forehead and the mangalsutra around her neck felt heavier tonight.
Just then, her phone buzzed on the bedside table, breaking the silence. She picked it up, seeing her mother's name flash on the screen. She hesitated for a moment, unsure of how to feel. The connection with her mother had always been strong, but tonight, she didn’t know if she was ready for another emotional conversation.
