LOVE BEYOND INFINITY story of the young man from Kūfā

Have you heard the story of the young man from Kūfā?

Ibn al-Qayyim narrates from Rajā Ibn Amr Al-Nakha'i who says:

There was a young man in Kūfā, who was very handsome, but at the same time was engaged in immense worship. He has gone pale due to his efforts.

He came to live in the triba of Nakh'a. His eyes fell upon a girl from the triba. she also loved and became mad about him. the young man sent a proposal, but her father refused saying she was already engaged to her cousin. the young girl's love increased and she sent a message to him saying that either you come to me or I shall make a plan to come to you.

He replied saying, 'none of the options are possible, because the Quran says:

Say: if I were to disobey my lord, then I fear the punishment of the great day.'

She said to herself:

'inspire of his love he has so much fear of Allah. By Allah, no one but he is going to have me.'

Thereafter she left all her luxuries And she also engaged herself in worship, she did not commit any act which would be against the shari'ah.

Eventually, she died.

The youth would then go to her grave and weep.

One day he was crying near her grave, when he saw her in his dream.

He questioned her, "How are you?"

She replied, "O my desired one! How nice is your love. A true love which dragged me towards vogue and good deeds."

He asked her, "What have you received in return for this love?"

She replied, "I was taken to such luxuries which are never going to fade, in the everlasting garden which will never perish."

He said to her, " remember me over there, because I will never forget you."

She replied,"by Allah! I also never forget you. I even requested our Master to let us stay together (in the hereafter)so help me by working hard."

He asked, "When will I be seeing you?"

She replied, "You will be joining us very soon."

After this dream, the youth did not live more than seven days.
