Lucas' eyes widened as he realized Reyon was not moving. He reached out to touch her and tried to shake her to wake her up but there was no response. He felt a sudden panic rush through him and he looked around for any help but there was no one around.
He unbuckled the seatbelt and tried to get out, his movement was messy and uncoordinated as he stumbled out. He fell onto the ground but quickly got up, his eyes still on her as he stumbled towards the passenger seat.
He opened the door of the passenger seat and saw her lying there with her eyes closed. He felt a lump in his throat and his heart started to race. He yelled out her name, trying to wake her up but she showed no signs of movement. He grabbed her shoulder and shook it, desperate to get a response from her.
He tried shaking her harder, hoping that she would wake up but there was no response. He felt a wave of panic crash over him as he realized something was wrong. He bent down and tried to feel for a pulse, his hands shaking as he touched her neck, hoping to feel some sign of life.
He felt a faint pulse but nothing else and he felt a wave of panic rush through him again. He tried to wake her up again, pleading with her to open her eyes but there was no response. He felt the tears start to well up in his eyes as he realized the gravity of the situation.
He sat there, hunched over her as he tried to process what was happening. He felt a wave of guilt wash over him, feeling like it was his fault that she was there and not him. He had so many things he wanted to say but now he realized it was too late.
He could feel his eyes getting wet from the tears that were threatening to spill out. He grabbed her hand and held it tight, hoping the warmth of it would wake her up as he called out her name again and pleaded for her to wake up. But there was still no response.
He could feel his own body shaking as he sat there, holding her hand in his. He didn’t care about the pain in his body or his head that was bleeding, all he cared about was her. He felt a sob rise up in his throat as he looked at her still body.
He couldn’t hold back the tears anymore as he felt a lump lodge in his throat. He brought her hand up to his lips and held it there, pressing it against his lips as a tear slid down his cheek.
He still held onto her hand, not letting go even for a second. He kept holding it tightly, hoping that somehow it would bring her back. He couldn’t accept that she was gone, he didn’t want to believe it but the reality was right in front of him.
TIME SKIP
Years went by, the accident had completely changed Lucas' life. He spent the days going through the motions, not really living but just existing. The memory of that night and of Reyon had never faded from his mind. Each time he thought back, his heart ached with the memory of her loss.
He tried to bury himself in work, hoping that it would help him forget everything. He had become even more cold and reserved than he was before the accident, not letting anyone get too close to him. He kept everyone at arm's length, not wanting to get attached to anyone in fear of losing them again.
The days became a cycle of work and solitary existence. He lived alone, avoiding any social interaction as much as possible. The only thing that brought him comfort was the memory of Reyon, but it also brought him pain. He thought of her every day, wondering what could have happened if he had done something differently.
The loneliness became a part of him, he had gotten used to it and accepted it, thinking that was the only way he could live. But sometimes, late at night, he would lay awake in bed and think about her. He would think about all the times they both had spent together and he would wonder what could have been if that night had never happened.
Years later, Lucas found himself standing at the same spot where the accident had happened. He stood there, looking at the place where he had lost Reyon. The memories of that night came rushing back, just as vivid as the day it happened. He felt his heart ache again and he could feel the lump forming in his throat.......
...Lucas was walking down the street one morning, lost in his own thoughts. He was on his way to work, not really paying attention to his surroundings. Then suddenly, he felt himself collide with someone as he was walking, causing him to spill his coffee.
"What's wrong with you, man?" She speak firmly.
He took a step back, looking at the person he had bumped into. He was about to respond with a sharp remark but then he saw her. He froze, his heart stopping for a second as his eyes widened slightly.
He couldn’t believe his eyes. Could it really be Reyon? He had convinced himself that he would never see her again, so seeing her standing there right in front of him was a shock. As she started walking away he stood there, frozen for a moment, not sure if he was hallucinating or if you she was really there.
He started walking towards her, quickening his pace until he was right behind her. He reached out and grabbed her arm, gently tugging it,,so she would stop walking and turn around to face him.
She gave him annoying look. "what the hell?
What is wrong with you,man?"
He clenched his jaw and let out a scoff as he saw the look on her face. He had hoped her might have been happy to see him, but he forgot how cold you could be. It only served to frustrate him even more, but he swallowed his annoyance and spoke, his voice cold.
“Where the hell have you been?”
