Trying to save him!
Continuation of last episode...
Leah quickly gets on her feet...as her eyes scans the deep water.. trying to figure out where exactly he was...
But to her horror..all she could see was green shade of water...not allowing her eyes to reach anything that might be helpful to find Ajax...
Panic rises into her as she realises she couldn't waste her time...she takes out her knife from her waist bag...
Holding it firmly as she dives into the pond to save her friend..and herself from potential dangers..
the water wasn't muddy...infact it was suprisingly cleaner... though not very clear to spot her friend...
She spots something shining...as if sparkles of gold at distant...she assumes it's the chain Ajax must have been wearing...
Though there was always a possibility she was aware of that it could be some monster...but she doesn't let the fear take over her...she was willing to take chances to save a friend who saved her moments ago...
She swims towards the little glow under the water...she was good swimmer..
As she reaches more and more closer to the glowing light...she realises it's not her friend...nor is it some water monster...but something much more sinister...
terror takes over her face...as she see something very unexpected...
It was indeed a gold chain...but it wasn't her friend's but a Skeleton's which was bound to the hard mud wall behind him... tangled with many roots..as if it was trapped to death..or part of the tree itself...
This wasn't the only human remains there...there were many...maybe more than 100....she couldn't tell...all of them tangled with roots of the tree...
She realises what this was...she had no time to waste anymore...she tried to find Ajax around the tied skeletons...and that's when she notices something moving at the very distance..
As if a giant fish.. trying to escape fisherman's net...
She had no time to doubt..it had to be Ajax...
she swims towards him... getting closer and closer to it...until she is sure that it was really Ajax..
He was tangled similarly by the roots of the tree...just as the other skeletons were.... difference was he was alive...and he was struggling to set himself free...just as all those dead humans must have tried before there death...
He looked exhausted...but he wasn't giving up..
I swimmed closer to him...he looked up at me...his gaze didn't seem to be surprised as if he knew I'll find him under-water..
But he looked tired...as if he didn't had much time...
I used my knife to cut the roots he was tangled with...I started first with his legs...but they were many...and it was even harder to cut them...
I was losing out of my own strength...but I couldn't leave him there to die...I knew he had even lesser time than I did...
I tried harder and harder to cut the hard roots...it was difficult but they were tearing up slowly...it would take time I knew...and so did he..
I was cutting those roots...the knife injuring my hand.. cutting deeply into my skin incidently... making the water around my hand bloody...
I noticed him watching me...his eyes were calm now and the same time exhausted...he wasn't struggling anymore....
He had given up....and was trying to not close his eyes...
His eyes...that looked as if he was guilty... guilty and sorry for the burden I'll be caring for rest of my life..if he died here...
He probably could read my thoughts...he knew what I was like...and what would happen to me...if he had to die because of my fault....
and he was guilty for that...his eyes further tried to convey me a silent message as he slowly shakes his head...
As if telling me..." it's not your fault...for what's going to happen to me.."
his expression conveying..." you should leave...before this evil thing kills you too.."
I tried even harder to cut the roots...and they were getting torn now...but they were still many...
Ajax's eyes still watched me..his body still from exhaustion...his eyelids slowly getting heavier... finally closing them...
Horror and panic rises through my body..I couldn't let him die here...
I tried even harder..harder than my capacity... giving away my strength...I myself started to feel dizzy...
I knew I needed to get to the surface and take air to live...but I knew I couldn't stop here...
I cut apart the every last of the roots tangling his body... making his body free from any bounds..as it lifelessly floats in the water...
I grab his waist with my numb arms...my body almost giving up on me as well...I use the every last of my strength to swim up the surface...
Breaking through the beam of the pond... gasping loudly for air...
I felt as if my lungs could burst..as I gasped and gasped for more and more air... holding unconscious Ajax closer to my body...
I knew it was not safe for us to stay in this pond any longer...so I quickly made my way towards the land... swimming as fast as I could with Ajax in my exhausted arm...
I dragged him up the dry land...with little strength I had... making him lay over the land...as I kneeled down at his-side... shaking him... slapping his face gently...as I try to wake him up...
Leah windward
Ajax! Ajax!! get up!!
Leah's eyes fills with tears slowly as she see no moment in Ajax's lifeless body....
Leah windward
get up!!! Ajax!!!
she shakes him...she presses his stomach...as little of water escapes out of his mouth...
Leah windward
*tears starts rolling down her cheeks as they fall over his wet face*
Leah windward
please...get up...
