Chapter 9: The Slow Burn

In the weeks that followed, Emma and Alex’s bond only grew stronger. They spent more time together outside of work—going for walks in the park, catching movies, or simply sharing quiet dinners at each other's apartments. Alex never pressured her, never asked her to rush her healing. He simply let her be herself, and in return, Emma found herself trusting him more and more.

Alex didn’t need to be the perfect man—he didn’t need to erase the past or fill the gaps left by Jack. He just needed to be there. And that was exactly what Emma had been missing all along: someone who didn’t try to fix her, but accepted her as she was.

One night, after a particularly long day at the office, Emma sat at Alex’s apartment, exhausted but content. He had made dinner—pasta, her favorite—and they were sitting on the couch, watching an old movie. It was the kind of evening Emma had longed for, simple but comforting.

"Are you sure you’re okay?" Alex asked, his voice soft as he noticed how tired she looked. "You’ve been pushing yourself a lot lately."

Emma smiled, a little tired but grateful. "Yeah, I’m just... I’m getting used to everything. To being independent, to not having to answer to anyone but myself."

Alex gave a small nod, his expression thoughtful. "I get that. It’s like you’ve been through so much, and now you’re reclaiming your life. It’s a journey, right?"

She nodded, her gaze fixed on him. "It is. And I think I’m finally starting to figure out what that journey looks like. I’m not the same person I was when we first met."

There was a quiet understanding between them, a sense that they were both in different places than when their paths first crossed. Emma was no longer the woman crushed by betrayal. She was stronger, more whole. And as she looked at Alex, she realized she had begun to feel again—something she hadn’t done in a long time.

"I’m glad I met you, Alex," she said quietly, her words vulnerable but true. "You’ve been patient with me, and I don’t think I would have gotten this far without you."

Alex’s face softened, and he reached out to gently take her hand in his. "I’m glad I met you, too. And you’re right. You’ve come so far already. I can’t wait to see where this goes."

Emma squeezed his hand, a smile tugging at her lips. "Neither can I."

They both smile at each other and sit in sofa in comfortable position and watch movie with some snacks.

In half of movie Alex saw Emma fall asleep in his shoulder and Alex saw Emma and feel a heart soften for her..

Then he pick her up and took her to bed room make her sleep in comfortable in bed and he sat beside her bed and talk to sleeping Emma I think I falling in love with you Emma..
