Trying to start over

Bada got to the little restaurant near her house. Everything about the little place was the same as when she was in high school. She walked in and took at seat near the window.

“Can I get you something?” A waitress walked over to the table.

“Just some tea, I’m waiting for a friend.” Bada smiled.

“Right away,” the waitress bowed and left to get the tea.

Bada looked out the window and she saw a slim girl walked over to the restaurant, her long brown hair flowing in the wind.

“Isa!” Bada screamed as the girl walked into the restaurant.

“Bada!” Isa screamed and rushed over and the two women hugged each other.

“You’re hair is so long,” Isa said running her fingers through Bada’s hair.

“You lost weight,” Bada said pulling away to look at Isa. She remembered that Isa was chubby when they were in school.

“Yeah, no more chubby Isa,” they both laughed and sat down.

“I’ve missed you so much,” Bada said holding her friends hand across the table.

“I’ve missed you too,” Isa said as the tea arrived.

“So tell me about the big city?” Isa asked.

Bada began telling Isa that happened over the three years she lived in the city. She told her about being taken and shot at and she even told Isa about Haru.

“He’s the fool for not wanting to be with you,” Isa folded her arms across her chest.

“He has his reasons,” Bada said.

“He’s a loser for not knowing how good you are,” Isa was angry at Haru and she didn’t even know him. How could he not want to be with Bada. She’s the best and so sweet.

“Let’s not think of him, we need to think about getting me a job here in town,” Bada said with a smile as their food arrived. She didn’t want to talk too much about Haru because it would make her cry and break her heart all over again.

“You can work at the preschool with me. One of the teachers moved away when she got married and we could use someone.” Isa explained as they ate.

“I don’t know anything about teaching little kids. I’m a structural engineer,” Bada explained. She’d gone to the city to purse her carrier but all that was dashed when she could only get a job as a construction worker.

“It’s not very hard and the children are lovely,” Isa said with a smile.

“I’ve been doing it since graduation, besides we can work together and I have a someone to have lunch with.” Isa said with a smile.

“Okay, I’ll go and ask about the job,” Bada said looking through her purse for money to pay the bill for their lunch.

She really needed to find a job, she didn’t have very much money.

“I’ll pay for lunch today and you can pay for lunch next time,” Isa put the money down on the table.

“Let’s go,” they both left the restaurant. The afternoon sun was so warm and the breeze blew through their hair. Being home was exactly what Bada needed.

“Let’s walk to park like we use to after school,” Isa locked arms with Bada as they walked down the sidewalk.

City A

Fuji group

Haru sat at his desk. His had dark circles under his eyes and looked like he hadn’t slept in days.

“Sir, It’s been a week. We still don’t have a plan of what to do about. Hisa and her request. Also Akio Yamada has become suspicious of the increase in security.” Toma said putting a stack of papers down on the desk.

They’ve been working hard to figure out what to do about Hisa. Toma had tried to look at the situation from every angle. They needed more eyes on the problem but Haru didn’t want to involve Benjiro and Yoshio in what was happening.

With only seven weeks to go and no chemist working on the drug. The delivery of the 245 crates was not going to happen.

“ I’ll think of something,” Haru assured.

“It needs to be a big something. Hisa is expecting 122,500,000 million diamond pills.” Toma said.

“I know,” Haru roughly ran his fingers through his hair.

“Don’t worry, go ahead and head home. I’ll finish up for today,” Haru said sending Toma on his way. Toma bowed and left the office.

“What am I going to do? I don’t want to be a bad guy anymore,” Haru sat back in his chair. Everything was working out for him. He loved spending time with his nephews and family. Haru had something he wanted to protect.

“Aren’t you going home?” Benjiro stood at the door.

“No, I need to finish this work.” Haru pointed to a pile of papers on his desk.

“Just leave it til tomorrow,” Benjiro walked into the office and took Haru’s coat off the rack it was hanging on.

“I can’t we have a meeting tomorrow and I don’t want to rush,” Haru pushed the coat away.

“We won’t be rushing come on let’s go,” Benjiro tossed the coat at his brother.

“I said no! I know that this is all knew to you. However, you don’t get to be a business behemoth by going home early,” Haru threw the coat on the ground.

“Now leave me alone and go home. I need to finish this work,” Haru pointed to the open door so that Benjiro would leave.

“Haru is...” Benjiro began.

“Just get out! I don’t need the lecture right now from you. Just go!” Haru yelled and slammed his hands on the desk. Benjiro didn’t say anything else he just left the office and went home.

“Ahhh!” Haru pushed all the papers to the ground and leaned back in his chair. Everything was going wrong.
