The room was tense, the air thick with anger. Don Marco Viktor slammed his fist on the doctor's desk, the papers scattering everywhere. His face was red, eyes wild with rage.
MARCO VIKTOR (ML)
What do you mean I can't have kids?!
*he shouted, his voice echoing off the walls*
You're telling me...me...that I can't have an heir? You better be lying, Doc, or I swear...
DR. BROWN
*his sweating and as he tried to stay calm, his hands trembling as he adjusted his glasses*
Don Marco, please. The accident caused severe damage, the procedure... there's nothing we can do. I'm sorry, but...
MARCO VIKTOR (ML)
Sorry?
*his voice cracked like thunder*
You're sorry?! You're telling me I can't carry on my bloodline, that all my work... Everything I've built ...ends with me? You're going to make me look like a fool?!
*he took a step forward, towering over the doctor, his fists clenched at his sides*
DR. BROWN
*he gulped, shrinking back in his chair*
I...I don't...
MARCO VIKTOR (ML)
Enough!
*he roared, grabbing the doctor's collar and pulled him halfway out of his seat*
Do you have any idea what you've done to me? Do you?!
His younger brother, Paolo stepped into the room.
PAOLO VIKTOR (ML's brother)
*his expression was serious, calm*
Marco, that's enough.
*he said firmly, stepping between the two men*
Marco's eyes flashed with fury, but he stopped, his chest heaving with every breath. He was still angry, but the sight of Paolo held him back.
PAOLO VIKTOR (ML's brother)
You don't want to do something you'll regret.
*he said, his voice low but steady*
This isn't the doctor's fault, and you know it. Let's go.
MARCO VIKTOR (ML)
*his eyes flickered from his brother back to the doctor, who was shaking in his chair*
For a moment, he looked like he might explode again, but then he let harsh breath. He shoved the doctor back into his eat.
MARCO VIKTOR (ML)
*glaring at him one last time*
You better pray I never see you again.
*he growled, before storming out of the room*
Paolo following closely behind, hands on his shoulders, guiding him out before he could lash out any further.
The door slammed shut behind them, leaving the doctor to breathe a shaky sigh of relief.
In the dim cozy, corner of cafe.
Angela wiped down the counter,her hand trembling slightly as she polished the ceramic mugs.
The cafe tucked away on a narrow, street in the heart of Naples, was just beginning to bustle with usual crowd of regulars.
Angela's manager watched her from behind the counter, her sharp eyes noticing the bruise on Angela's wrist.
Kate had known Angela for months now, and she had a feeling there was more to the girl's quiet demeanor than she let on.
KATE (FL's manager/Bestie)
Angie.
*she said softly, stepping closer*
Let me see your hand.
ANGELA (FL)
*she flinched, her heart racing. She quickly tucked her hand beneath the counter, trying to hide the bruise.*
KATE (FL's manager/Bestie)
*with a firm voice*
Don't hide it, please
ANGELA (FL)
*reluctantly, she pulled her hand out and let it rest on the counter.*
KATE (FL's manager/Bestie)
*her gaze softened with concern as she gently touched her wrist*
Who did this to you?
*she asked, her voice barely above a whisper*
ANGELA (FL)
*she looked down,her face flushed with shame*
She didn't want to talk about it. Didn't want to admit it. But Kate's gaze was insistent,and the kindness in her eyes made the words spill out before she could stop them.
ANGELA (FL)
it's... nothing.
*she murmured, her voice shaky*
It's just something that happened.
KATE (FL's manager/Bestie)
*she shook her head, her lips pressed together in frustration*
You don't have to lie to me. You're here every day, working so hard, and I've seen the way you carry yourself, like you're afraid to speak up.
*she paused*
This isn't, nothing, Angie. It's him, isn't it? The man you live with?
ANGELA (FL)
*she nodded, her eyes welling with unshed tears, she bit her lip, trying to push them back*
KATE (FL's manager/Bestie)
*she took a deep breath, leaning in closer, her voice quiet but firm*
You need to leave him
*she said*
I don't care what he says or what he does. You cannot stay with him. If you do, one day you'll end up losing your life in that man's arms.
ANGELA (FL)
I want to.
*she whispered*
I...I don't have enough money. I can't send my son to a new school or move somewhere far from here. Where would I go? What would I do?
Kate nodded slowly, her heart aching for her. She understood the weight of her words, the suffocating grip of financial despair, the lack of options.
KATE (FL's manager/Bestie)
I know.
*she said gently, her hand resting on her shoulder*
But you can't stay with him. For your sake. For your son's. There are people who can help, and there's always a way, even if it's hard to see it right now.
ANGELA (FL)
*she looked down at her hand, the bruise now more than just a mark on her skin*
I just... I don't know how.
*she murmured,her voice small*
KATE (FL's manager/Bestie)
*she squeezed her shoulder once more, offering comfort*
Take it one step at a time. First get away from him. After that, get away from him. After that, we'll figure out the rest. You don't have to do it alone.
ANGELA (FL)
*she met her eyes ,her lips trembling with the beginning of hope*
KATE (FL's manager/Bestie)
*she nodded in understanding,them turned to the counter, grabbing a cloth to clean up*
I'll cover for you today. Take the afternoon off. Go home, think about what I said.
ANGELA (FL)
*she didn't speak, but she gave a small nod*
She stepped out of the cafe.
