Your Author
so let us start the journey of this story with you guys 🥀😉
The Phoenix Sect’s ancestral halls burned with light as the sun dipped behind the mountains. Lanterns danced in the breeze, casting shadows on the polished stone floor where Lan Yi, a roguish yet brilliant cultivator, paced impatiently. His robes, crimson and gold like flickering flames, swirled with every step.
Elder Qiu
Lan Yi, you’re late again.
(scolded Elder Qiu, a wiry man with a sharp tongue to match his features.)
How do you expect to rise within the sect if you can’t follow even the simplest of orders?
Lan Yi (MC)
(Lan Yi smirked, leaning casually against a pillar.)
If the orders weren’t so dull, perhaps I’d be more inclined to follow them.
The elder bristled, his face reddening, but before he could retort, a messenger hurried in, bowing low.
Messenger
Elder Qiu, reports from the southern villages. More disappearances. This time, a whole family vanished without a trace.
Lan Yi (MC)
(Lan Yi’s smirk vanished. He straightened, his dark eyes sharp with interest.)
Disappearing families? Sounds more intriguing than sitting here listening to lectures.
Elder Qiu
(Elder Qiu shot him a warning look but sighed.)
Fine. Since you’re so eager for action, you can investigate. Take care, Lan Yi. There are rumors of demonic cultivators behind this.
Lan Yi’s heart raced at the prospect of adventure. He bowed mockingly and disappeared into the night, his phoenix-shaped sword glinting at his side.
The southern forests were dense and alive with the hum of insects. The crescent moon barely illuminated the winding paths, but Lan Yi moved confidently, his flame-lit talisman hovering above him. The air was heavy, filled with a strange, oppressive energy.
As he approached the village, he noticed an eerie silence. Doors hung open, their frames splintered as if clawed by monstrous hands. The ground was littered with overturned carts and shattered pottery, but there were no signs of life—or death.
Lan Yi (MC)
(Lan Yi crouched near a broken talisman on the ground, its sigils faintly glowing.)
A protection ward.
( he murmured.)
But whoever cast this was no amateur. Someone powerful was here.
“Indeed,”
came a cold voice from behind him.
Lan Yi spun, his sword drawn in an instant. Standing a few feet away was Ruo Chen, heir of the Moonlit Pavilion Sect. Clad in flowing silver robes, his presence was as serene as moonlight yet as chilling as frost. His icy blue eyes locked onto Lan Yi with an intensity that made the latter bristle.
Lan Yi (MC)
What’s a frost cultivator doing here?
( Lan Yi asked, narrowing his eyes.)
Isn’t this a little far from your snowy mountains?
Ruo Chen (ML)
I could ask the same of you, Phoenix.
( Ruo Chen replied, his tone devoid of warmth.)
This area is under my sect’s jurisdiction.
Lan Yi (MC)
(Lan Yi scoffed.)
Jurisdiction? Since when do demons care about borders?
Before Ruo Chen could respond, a guttural growl echoed through the village. The ground trembled as shadowy figures emerged from the darkness—twisted forms with glowing red eyes and jagged claws.
Ruo Chen (ML)
Nightfiends.
( Ruo Chen muttered, his hand already summoning a thin blade of frost.)
Lan Yi (MC)
Charming.
( Lan Yi quipped, his phoenix-shaped sword igniting with a burst of golden flames.)
The creatures lunged, and the two cultivators moved in unison, their contrasting styles creating a deadly dance. Lan Yi’s flames roared, scorching the nightfiends as they swarmed him, while Ruo Chen’s frosty strikes were precise, freezing and shattering their bodies in seconds.
Despite their differences, the two fought as if they’d trained together for years, covering each other’s weaknesses. But the nightfiends kept coming, their numbers seemingly endless.
Lan Yi (MC)
This isn’t normal.
(Lan Yi shouted over the chaos.)
They’re being summoned!
Ruo Chen’s eyes darted to the edge of the village, where a hooded figure chanted in a guttural language. Dark energy swirled around them, feeding the nightfiends.
Ruo Chen (ML)
Take the summoner.
( Ruo Chen ordered.)
I’ll hold them off.
Lan Yi (MC)
(Lan Yi raised an eyebrow.)
You’re giving me orders now?
Ruo Chen (ML)
Do you ever stop talking?
(Ruo Chen snapped, slashing through another wave of creatures.)
With a grin, Lan Yi leaped into the air, his flames propelling him toward the hooded figure. They turned, eyes widening as he descended, sword blazing like a comet. The summoner tried to cast a protective barrier, but Lan Yi’s fiery blade shattered it effortlessly.
The summoner crumpled to the ground, their chant breaking. Instantly, the nightfiends disintegrated into ash. Lan Yi landed gracefully, his sword extinguishing as he turned to find Ruo Chen walking toward him, his expression unreadable.
Lan Yi (MC)
Not bad.
( Lan Yi admitted, brushing soot from his robes.)
For a frosty type.
Ruo Chen (ML)
(Ruo Chen ignored the remark, his eyes fixed on the summoner’s body.)
This wasn’t just a random attack. They were testing something.
Lan Yi (MC)
(Lan Yi crouched beside the summoner, examining the dark sigils etched into their skin.)
This isn’t any ordinary demonic technique. It’s ancient.
Ruo Chen (ML)
(Ruo Chen’s gaze darkened.)
The Black Phoenix.
Lan Yi (MC)
(Lan Yi froze, his blood running cold despite the heat that always radiated from him.)
That’s just a myth.
Ruo Chen (ML)
It’s no myth.
( Ruo Chen said quietly.)
And if they’re trying to resurrect it, the entire empire is in danger.
Lan Yi (MC)
(Lan Yi stood, his playful demeanor replaced by grim determination.)
Then I guess we’re working together.
Ruo Chen (ML)
(Ruo Chen raised an eyebrow.)
I don’t recall asking for your help.
Lan Yi (MC)
(Lan Yi smirked.)
And I don’t recall needing permission. Face it, Frosty, you need someone with brains and firepower.
Ruo Chen (ML)
(For a moment, Ruo Chen stared at him, his frosty mask cracking just enough to reveal a hint of exasperation.)
Fine. But stay out of my way.
Lan Yi (MC)
(Lan Yi grinned, already walking ahead.)
Come on, partner. We’ve got an empire to save.
Ruo Chen sighed, his frosty aura flaring slightly as he followed. He had a feeling this partnership was going to be more trouble than it was worth.
