Tangled In Shadows

Tangled In Shadows

Veiled Shadows

The members of BTS were lounging around in their dorm, winding down after a long day of rehearsals. Jungkook, who usually preferred some quiet time, was finding himself more distracted than usual. His thoughts kept drifting back to Y/N, the girl he had met at that private gathering a few days ago. Her carefree attitude and innocent demeanor were refreshing, and he found himself looking forward to their next meeting.

As he sat down with the others, trying to shake off his thoughts, the doorbell rang.

"Ah, I think that’s Y/N," Jin said, looking up from his phone with a smile. "She said she’d drop by today."

“Y/N?” Jimin raised an eyebrow, his lips curving into a teasing smile. “She’s fun. I like her energy.”

“Yeah, she’s... different,” Jungkook said, trying to act casual. He didn't want to seem too eager, especially when his feelings for her were still so new and complicated.

The door swung open, and Y/N popped her head in, wearing her usual oversized hoodie and a grin that could brighten anyone’s day.

“Hello, hello!” she said, bouncing into the room with her usual energy. “I bring snacks!”

She held up a large bag filled with chips, candy, and various treats. Her exuberance filled the room, and the members immediately started teasing her.

“Oh, Y/N, you know we can’t eat all that,” Suga said, smirking while crossing his arms. “You’re going to make us all gain weight.”

“But it’s not about the food, it’s about the joy it brings!” Y/N countered, sitting down on the floor and spreading out the snacks. “C’mon, live a little, Suga-hyung. These are the good kind of calories—happy calories.”

The members all chuckled, and Jungkook couldn’t help but smile at her infectious energy. Y/N’s ability to lighten the mood was something he’d come to appreciate. There was a genuine innocence to her that he found refreshing, especially when the world of fame and danger seemed so heavy.

“Do you really just eat like this all the time?” J-Hope asked, picking up a bag of gummy bears.

“Of course! You can’t be serious all the time, you know?” Y/N replied with a wink. “Life’s too short to not enjoy little things—like snacks and bad jokes.”

“Are you calling us bad jokes?” RM asked, feigning offense while laughing.

“Well, I was talking about me, obviously!” Y/N giggled, grabbing a bag of chips. “I mean, I’m a walking, talking bad joke. Have you guys met me?”

As the group laughed, Jungkook couldn’t help but feel a warmth in his chest. It was impossible not to be drawn to her, even if he tried to keep his distance. There was a hidden vulnerability beneath her playful exterior that fascinated him.

“So, Jungkook,” Y/N said, leaning over to grab a can of soda from the table, “what have you been up to lately? I swear, every time I try to text you, you’re either busy or MIA.”

Jungkook stiffened slightly, but masked it with a casual smile. “Just the usual. Rehearsals, schedules. You know how it is.”

“Sounds boring,” she said, her tone teasing. “You need to learn how to relax more. You’re all work and no play. Come on, when’s the last time you did something spontaneous?”

Jungkook paused, thinking for a moment. “I guess... I don’t really do spontaneous stuff.”

“Well, that’s a tragedy,” she replied dramatically, pretending to wipe away a tear. “One day, I’m going to get you to do something fun. You’ll see.”

The others were laughing, but Jungkook felt a small pang in his chest. She was so full of life, so unburdened by the responsibilities that weighed him down. He could feel his thoughts start to drift again—wondering if she had any idea about the dangerous world he was part of. What would she think of him if she knew? What would she think of the truth?

But he pushed the thoughts away, not wanting to spoil the moment. For now, he just wanted to enjoy her company.

“Alright, alright. Let’s have some fun then,” Jungkook said with a grin, grabbing a handful of chips. “But I’m not making any promises about spontaneous adventures.”

“Oh, we’ll see,” Y/N said, giving him a sly grin. “You’re going to regret saying that. I’ll convert you to the dark side of fun one day.”

Later: Out on the Balcony

After a few hours of jokes, snacks, and laughter, the members were winding down, but Y/N stayed behind to chat with Jungkook alone. The others had retreated inside, leaving the two of them to talk on the balcony under the quiet night sky.

“You know,” Y/N began, her tone light but thoughtful, “I’m glad I met you. You're... different from what I expected. I thought you’d be all serious, but you’ve got this soft side that’s kind of cute.”

Jungkook chuckled, running a hand through his hair. “I’m not that serious, am I?”

“No, no,” she said quickly, waving her hands. “It’s a good thing! Like, you have this calm, quiet vibe... but it’s like there’s more to you, you know?”

Jungkook paused, wondering if she could sense something deeper within him. He didn’t want to lie, but he wasn’t ready to tell her the truth either.

“Maybe,” he said carefully, glancing at her. “I guess some things are better left unsaid.”

Y/N nodded, taking a deep breath. “Yeah, I get that. Some things are easier to keep hidden, huh?”

Jungkook’s heart skipped a beat. She was too perceptive, and yet he couldn’t shake the feeling that she was hiding something herself.

But instead of pressing, he smiled, choosing to let the moment linger in comfortable silence.

“You’re right,” he said softly, “but I think we both deserve a little bit of fun, don’t you?”

She grinned, her eyes sparkling with mischief. “I was waiting for you to say that.”
