INT. FAMILY LIVING ROOM – EARLY MORNING
INT. FAMILY LIVING ROOM – EARLY MORNING
The sun is just starting to rise, casting soft light through the windows. The house is quiet, with everyone still asleep after the long night. SOPHIA walks into the living room, the remnants of the party still scattered around streamers, the star lantern, and a few empty plates left on the coffee table. She moves slowly, savoring the quiet. The star lantern swings gently from the ceiling, catching her eye. She smiles softly.
SOPHIA takes a seat on the couch and pulls her legs up, hugging her knees to her chest. Her eyes linger on the lantern, as memories of the night before play in her mind her brothers laughing, their dad’s proud smile, the warmth of the fire pit. She takes a deep breath, appreciating the calm after the storm of the celebration.
Sophia
(whispering to herself)
We really are like stars each of us different, but together, we make something beautiful.
Her thoughts are interrupted by the sound of footsteps. LUCAS enters the room, looking groggy but smiling when he sees SOPHIA.
Elder Brother ,LUCAS
(quietly)
Hey, you're up early. Couldn’t sleep?
Sophia
(shrugging)
Just thinking. Last night was... perfect. I guess I didn’t want it to end.
LUCAS walks over and sits beside her on the couch, resting his arm on the back of it.
Elder Brother ,LUCAS
Yeah, it was. You really pulled it all together, Soph. I don’t know how you do it.
Sophia
(smiling, but with a hint of seriousness)
It’s not just me. We all make it work. But sometimes, I wonder what happens when life pulls us apart, you know? We’re all growing up, going in different directions. How do we keep this keep us together?
LUCAS looks at her, understanding the weight of her words.
Elder Brother ,LUCAS
(thoughtfully)
I’ve thought about that too. Life gets busy, and things change, but I think the important stuff doesn’t. We’ll always have each other. Even if we’re miles apart, we’ll still be a family. We’ll still find our way back like last night.
SOPHIA nods, appreciating his reassurance.
Sophia
I hope so. It’s just sometimes I feel like it’s my responsibility to keep everyone connected, to make sure we don’t drift apart.
Elder Brother ,LUCAS
(gently)
You’ve always been the heart of this family, but you don’t have to carry that alone. We’ll all make sure we stay close, no matter what. That’s the thing about family you don’t have to do it all by yourself.
They sit in silence for a moment, the weight of the conversation hanging between them. Then, LUCAS nudges her playfully.
Elder Brother ,LUCAS
But if you ever need a break from being the boss, you can count on me to take over... as long as it doesn’t involve planning anything. That’s your specialty.
SOPHIA laughs, the tension easing.
Sophia
Deal. But I’m keeping the title of “sixth star.”
Elder Brother ,LUCAS
Fair enough.
They both fall into a comfortable silence again, watching the morning light grow brighter. The quiet moment between them feels like an unspoken promise a reassurance that no matter where life takes them, they will always have each other.
INT. KITCHEN – LATER THAT MORNING
The rest of the family is slowly waking up. BEN stumbles into the kitchen, still half-asleep, and JACK is already sitting at the table, sipping coffee. TOMMY and FINN are raiding the fridge for leftovers. The house feels warm and alive again as the siblings gather for a casual breakfast.
Second brother. BEN
(yawning)
I don’t know how you all have this much energy after last night. I feel like I got run over by a parade float.
Third brother, JACK
(deadpan)
That’s because you tried juggling half the decorations while dancing. Your body’s still recovering from the embarrassment.
Second brother. BEN
(grinning)
Please, they loved it. I’m the star of the show.
Youngest brother FINN
(smirking)
More like the comic relief.
Fourth TOMMY
(holding up a leftover slice of cake)
Alright, before this turns into another round of "who’s the funniest," can we just agree that the cake was the real MVP last night?
Everyone laughs, and SOPHIA walks in, joining them at the table.
Sophia
It’s true. But you guys weren’t too bad yourselves.
They continue to chat and joke, the easy camaraderie between them filling the room. DAD enters, looking more rested than the rest of them.
Dad
(smiling)
Good morning, team. How’s everyone feeling after last night’s big event?
The siblings all respond with various levels of enthusiasm, from TOMMY’s excited “Great! to BEN’s groggy “Barely alive.”
Dad
Well, I just want to say thank you again for everything. It was the best birthday I’ve ever had.
SOPHIA beams, and the others nod in agreement. There’s a moment of collective pride, knowing they came together to make it happen.
Sophia
(playfully)
Don’t worry, Dad. Next year, we’ll top it.
Dad
(laughing)
I don’t know how you could, but I’m sure you’ll find a way.
The family continues to enjoy breakfast, and as the morning sun streams through the windows, the scene feels peaceful and complete.
EXT. FAMILY HOME – AFTERNOON
The siblings are outside now, cleaning up the decorations from the night before. TOMMY and FINN are taking down the star lantern, while LUCAS, BEN, and JACK work on gathering the chairs and tables.
Third brother, JACK
(teasing)
Sure, as long as Ben’s not in charge of the entertainment.
Youngest brother FINN
(laughing)
Or the cake.
Sophia
(shaking her head, smiling)
You guys are relentless. But, to be fair, we did pull off something pretty special.
Fourth TOMMY
(holding the star lantern in his hands)
This thing really made the night, though. We should keep it for the next party.
SOPHIA looks at the lantern, a sense of nostalgia creeping in.
SOPHIA looks at the lantern, a sense of nostalgia creeping in.
Sophia
Yeah, we’ll keep it. It can be our tradition the sixth star.
The others nod in agreement, understanding the significance. They continue cleaning up, but the mood is light, filled with laughter and teasing. The star lantern, now safely tucked away, remains a quiet symbol of the bond they share.
INT. SOPHIA’S ROOM – NIGHT
SOPHIA sits at her desk, looking out the window at the darkening sky. The stars are beginning to appear, twinkling softly. She reaches for the star lantern, which she’s kept on her desk, and holds it in her hands.
She closes her eyes for a moment, thinking about her family—their quirks, their arguments, their laughter. She feels a deep sense of gratitude wash over her. Opening her eyes, she places the lantern back on her desk and looks out at the stars again.
Sophia
(softly, to herself)
No matter where life takes us, we’ll always be the stars of each other’s lives
The camera pans up to the night sky, filled with stars, each shining brightly. The sixth star—a symbol of their family bond—glows softly in the distance, unwavering and bright.
