EXT. BACKYARD – NIGHT
EXT. BACKYARD – NIGHT
The fire crackles softly, the siblings and DAD still seated around it, basking in the afterglow of their celebration. The air is cool, and the star lantern sways gently above them, casting a soft glow on their faces. SOPHIA glances at her brothers, a sense of peace settling over her.
Sophia
(smiling softly)
I can’t remember the last time we all sat together like this. No phones, no distractions… just us.
Elder Brother ,LUCAS
(nodding)
It’s rare, but that’s what makes it special. Life gets busy, but we always find our way back.
Fourth TOMMY
(grinning, toasting a marshmallow)
Especially when there’s food involved.
Everyone laughs, the sound echoing into the night.
Second brother. BEN
(looking up at the stars)
It’s funny, isn’t it? We’re all so different, but somehow, we fit together perfectly. Like stars in a constellation.
Youngest brother FINN
(teasing)
Whoa, Ben. Did you steal Jack’s introspective vibes or something?
Third brother, JACK
(Laughing softly)
He’s right, though. We’re all part of something bigger something that works because we’re together.
The group falls into a brief silence, appreciating the sentiment. SOPHIA leans her head on LUCAS' shoulder, sighing contentedly.
Sophia
(thoughtfully)
You know, I used to feel like it was my job to hold everything together. I thought being the only girl meant I had to make sure everything was perfect, that everyone was happy.
Elder Brother ,LUCAS
(gently)
You don’t have to do that, Sophia. We might argue or drive each other crazy sometimes, but we’re all in this together. You don’t have to carry the weight alone.
Youngest brother FINN
(nodding)
Yeah, we’re a team. Besides, you already do so much for us. You deserve to relax too.
Second brother. BEN
(grinning)
Well, except when you’re telling me to put the inflatable gorilla away.
Sophia
SOPHIA laughs, feeling the warmth of their support.
Sophia
(smirking)
Okay, maybe I’m guilty of being a little bossy. But you guys wouldn’t survive without me, and you know it.
The brothers exchange amused glances, knowing she’s right.
Fourth TOMMY
(grinning)
I’m not even going to argue with that. But seriously, Soph, you keep us grounded.
Dad
(finally speaking up, his voice filled with pride)
Sophia, you’ve been the glue of this family for a long time, but you’re not alone. Each of you brings something unique to the table. And when you all come together, that’s when the magic happens.
They all look at DAD, his words resonating deeply. It’s clear how much their bond means to him.
Elder Brother ,LUCAS
(softly)
He’s right. We’re stronger together. Always have been, always will be.
For a moment, the siblings sit in quiet reflection. The fire crackles, and the stars above seem to shine brighter. SOPHIA looks up, her heart full.
Sophia
(whispering to herself)
The sixth star.
BEN, noticing her whisper, nudges her
Second brother. BEN
What was that?
Sophia
(smiling)
Nothing, just thinking about how lucky we are.
Youngest brother FINN
(raising an eyebrow)
Lucky? With this bunch?
Fourth TOMMY
(grinning)
Hey, speak for yourself. I’m a catch!
More laughter erupts, lightening the mood once again. The fire begins to die down, and LUCAS stands, stretching his arms.
Elder Brother ,LUCAS
Alright, I think it’s time to call it a night. We’ve got a big day tomorrow cleaning up this mess.
Sophia
(teasing)
Cleaning up? That’s definitely Ben’s job after the whole juggling fiasco.
Second brother. BEN
(protesting)
Hey, I was the entertainment! That’s got to count for something.
Third brother, JACK
(smiling)
It counted… for about five seconds before you dropped everything.
The banter continues as they begin to clean up, gathering plates and putting out the fire. SOPHIA lingers for a moment, staring at the star lantern hanging above them. FINN notices and walks over.
Youngest brother FINN
You okay?
Sophia
Yeah, just thinking. It’s funny how life changes. We all grew up so fast. But somehow, even when things change, we always come back to this.
FINN follows her gaze to the lantern, nodding.
Youngest brother FINN
That’s what family is, right? Even when we’re off doing our own thing, we always find our way back.
Sophia
(smiling softly)
Yeah. I guess we’re all like stars in the same sky sometimes far apart, but always connected.
They share a quiet moment, the glow of the lantern reflecting in their eyes. Then, FINN playfully nudges her.
Youngest brother FINN
Come on, Sixth Star. We’ve got cleanup duty.
SOPHIA laughs, putting her arm around her younger brother as they walk back to join the rest of the family.
INT. FAMILY KITCHEN – LATE NIGHT
The kitchen is warm, the last of the dishes being washed. The siblings finish tidying up, tired but happy. DAD is sitting at the table, watching them with a soft smile.
Dad
I’m proud of all of you. Tonight was perfect.
The siblings smile, the weight of his words sinking in. SOPHIA walks over to him, placing a hand on his shoulder.
Sophia
It wasn’t just me. We did it together.
Dad
(nodding)
You did. And that’s what makes this family so special. You stick together, no matter what.
He stands up, pulling SOPHIA into a hug. The rest of the brothers join in, forming a tight group hug around their dad. It’s a quiet moment of unity, love, and gratitude.
Elder Brother ,LUCAS
(softly)
Here’s to the sixth star and the best family anyone could ask for.
The camera pulls back as the family remains huddled together, their connection stronger than ever. The star lantern continues to glow faintly in the background, a symbol of their bond, unwavering and bright.
