[Sighs, rubbing her temples] I don’t have that luxury, Anise.
Anise(Maid)
[Frowning] At least eat something.
Celestia Vaelmolt (FL)
(thoughts): If only food could protect me from a king’s obsession.
[A sudden knock on the window startles them both.]
Anise(Maid)

[Calmly] Open it.
Anise(Maid)

[Scene Change: The Window – A hooded figure stands outside, his eyes sharp as a dagger.]

Sir Cedric Hale

Celestia Vaelmolt (FL)
[Leaning against the desk] What do you want?
Sir Cedric Hale
[Amused] Shouldn’t I be asking you that? You’ve suddenly taken an interest in court affairs. People are noticing.
Celestia Vaelmolt (FL)
(thoughts): Of course they are.

[Lightly] And which side do you belong to?
Sir Cedric Hale
Cedric: [Grinning] The side that pays me well.

[Scene Change: The King’s Chambers – Lucien stands by the window, watching the city below. A messenger kneels before him.]

Messenger: [Nervously] Your Majesty… there was an unknown visitor in Lady Celestia’s chambers tonight.

[Slowly turning] …Who?

*A masked man. We suspect a spy.

[Softly, yet deadly] I see.

Messenger: [Hesitantly] Shall we act, Your Majesty?
