Kevin's Side:
After a long day of promoting his latest movie, Kevin returned to his apartment, ready to unwind. As he settled in, he received a video call from his parents. They exchanged casual pleasantries before his father, Mr. Richard Kyung-Woo, got serious.
"Kevin, there's something your mother and I want to discuss with you," he said, his tone solemn.
His mother, Mrs. Grace Kyung-Woo, nodded in agreement. "Yes, something important."
Kevin, feeling curious, listened intently. "Sure, what's going on, Mom and Dad?"
His father continued, "Well, Kevin, you know how long our families have been friends."Mrs. Kyung-Woo chimed in, "And you're aware of your friendship with Hana's brother, Luke, and Hana's friendship with your sister, Mia."
Kevin paused, contemplating their words. "Yes, of course, we've all known each other for a long time."
Mr. Kyung-Woo then dropped a bombshell. "We've been discussing the idea of an arranged marriage between you and Hana."
His mother nodded, showing her support. "It's not a decision we've taken lightly, but given your close connections and shared history, it seems like it could be a wonderful opportunity for both of you."
Kevin absorbed their words, feeling a mix of emotions. "I will, Mom, Dad. Thanks for being so understanding."
His father smiled warmly. "That's all we ask, Kevin. Take some time to think about it."Mrs. Kyung-Woo encouraged him further. "And remember, we want what's best for you." Grateful for their support, Kevin expressed his gratitude. "Thanks, Mom, Dad. I'll keep you posted."
His father nodded in understanding. "That's fair, Kevin. Discuss it with your friends as well."His mother reassured him, "We trust your judgment, sweetheart."
With a sense of responsibility weighing on his shoulders, Kevin promised to consider their proposal seriously. Little did he know, this decision would shape his future in unexpected ways.
Hana's Side
After a long day of shooting, Hana returned home, tired but content. She took a refreshing shower to wash away the fatigue before settling down in her room. Soon after, her parents called her over a video call, as they often did.
Mr. Soo-Yun, Hana's father, greeted her with a warm smile. "Olivia, my princess, we have something important to discuss with you."Mrs. Soo-Yun, Hana's mother, nodded affectionately. "Yes, dear, it's about your future."Curious, Hana sat up straight, ready to listen. "Of course, Mom, Dad. What's on your minds?"Mr. Soo-Yun spoke gently, "You know, Hana, how much your mother and I care about your happiness and well-being."
Mrs. Soo-Yun added with a smile, "You're our precious daughter, and we've always wanted the best for you."Feeling loved, Hana replied, "I know, Mom, Dad."Mrs. Soo-Yun continued, "Sweetheart. Now, we've been thinking about your future and a potential life partner." Hana was surprised. "A life partner? But I'm in Korea, and you're in America, and I have my career here."
Mrs. Soo-Yun reassured her gently, "We're aware, dear, and we've been considering this carefully. You know Kevin, your brother's best friend?" Hana thought for a moment. "Kevin? Yes, of course, I know him. But we're not particularly close."
Mr. Soo-Yun explained, "Well, Hana, we've been in touch with Kevin's parents, and they proposed the idea of an arranged marriage between you and Kevin." Hana was astonished. "An arranged marriage? But, Mom, Dad, there are rumors about Kevin dating Chae Won. Is that true?"
Mrs. Soo-Yun quickly reassured her, "No, sweetheart, those rumors are baseless. Kevin and Chae Won are just friends. Kevin's parents have assured us of this."Mr. Soo-Yun chimed in with support, "We think an arranged marriage with Kevin could be a wonderful opportunity for you both."
Mrs. Soo-Yun added, "You have a unique connection through your brother and his sister, Mia, who is your best friend." Contemplating the unexpected proposal, Hana replied, "I see... It's just unexpected."Mrs. Soo-Yun spoke lovingly, "We want your happiness above all else, Olivia. Take some time to think it over. We trust your judgment."
Hana felt appreciative. "Thank you, Mom, Dad. I'll consider it carefully and talk to Luke and Mia as well."Mr. Soo-Yun nodded understandingly. "That's fair, sweetheart. We'll support whatever decision you make."
As the conversation ended, Hana was left with mixed emotions and a lot to reflect on regarding her future and the unexpected prospect of an arranged marriage with Kevin.
