chapter - 4
At Jeon's Enterprise Headquarters, Deputy President Jeon Yoongi had just returned from escorting Mr. and Mrs. Wilson to their hotel and was visibly anxious as he entered the company.
Jeon Yoongi(A)
"This couple is so hard to deal with. We’ve made every possible concession! What more do they want?"
Mr. and Mrs. Wilson had arrived in the country the day before, and after two days of meetings, the collaboration was still not confirmed. This was a deal worth tens of billions, critical for Jeon’s Enterprise’s expansion into S Land. The consequences of losing the deal would be severe.
Jeon Jungkook(E)
"It didn’t work out with Mr. Cheon?"(his displeasure evident)
Mr. and Mrs. Wilson had specifically asked about a painting by Priam, which seemed to be the key to securing the deal.
Yoongi sighed in frustration.
Jeon Yoongi(A)
"That old man is stubborn as a rock! I almost begged him on my knees, but he still wouldn’t part with a painting."
Jungkook pinched the bridge of his nose in frustration.
Jeon Jungkook(E)
"Prepare some top-quality tea. I’ll visit him tomorrow."
Jeon’s Enterprise had invested significant time and resources into this collaboration, and nothing could be allowed to go wrong.
Jeon Yoongi(A)
"I doubt he’ll give us a painting, even if you called him 'Dad,'"
As the two men wallowed in their anxiety, Han So-hee suddenly approached them.
Han so hee(O)
"President Jeon, Mr. Cheon has been persuaded."
Yoongi stood up excitedly.
Han So-hee nodded with a smile.
Han so hee(O)
"Mr Cheon has agreed to part with one of Priam’s paintings, and he’s even invited Mr. and Mrs. Wilson to his villa tomorrow to view his personal collection."
Jungkook’s expression relaxed as he nodded.
Jeon Jungkook(E)
"You can go home and rest now; the meeting is tomorrow afternoon."
Han So-hee, who had clearly put in a lot of effort with Mr. Cheon, looked tired, dark circles under her eyes hinting at the sleepless night she must have had.
Han so hee(O)
"I’ll accompany you tomorrow. Mrs. Wilson will need someone to keep her company while you discuss business,"
Jungkook thought for a moment.
Jeon Jungkook(E)
"Rest today; we’ll need you again tomorrow."
With a bright smile, Han So-hee left the office.
Yoongi stroked his chin thoughtfully.
Jeon Yoongi(A)
"How on earth did she manage to persuade that old man? He was so stubborn with us!"
Yoongi had visited the Cheon family several times over the past few days, trying every tactic he could think of to convince Cheon Ho-jin to part with a painting, but he had failed each time. So-hee had clearly used her skills as a PR manager to achieve what seemed impossible.
The next afternoon, Jeon Jungkook accompanied Mr. and Mrs. Wilson to Cheon Ho-jin's home. Cheon Ho-jin was a significant figure in the art world of Hua Land, and like Mr. and Mrs. Wilson, he was a fan of Priam. They had a pleasant conversation, during which Cheon Ho-jin not only gifted the couple a painting by Priam but also invited them for afternoon tea at the Cheon family residence. Mrs. Wilson was particularly impressed by the dessert served and even took a piece back to their hotel when they left.
As they were getting into the car that evening, Mr. Wilson, in his slightly broken Korean, expressed his satisfaction. "Mr. Jeon, today was full of surprises. I hope our collaboration will be equally successful."
Jeon Jungkook(E)
"I’m looking forward to our collaboration as well."
Mr. Wilson, shaking hands with Jungkook, added, "And the dessert was excellent—my wife loved it."
Jeon Jungkook(E)
"Then see you again tomorrow.,"
Jungkook said as they both entered their respective cars.
Jeon Yoongi, watching from the sidelines, felt a pang of disappointment when he noticed that Mr. Wilson's assistant had taken half of the dessert.
As someone with a sweet tooth, Yoongi had hoped to enjoy that dessert himself after the meeting, but Mrs. Wilson had beaten him to it, leaving him feeling a bit dejected.
Han so hee(O)
"Judging by Mr. Wilson's words, it seems the deal is secured?"
Jeon Yoongi(A)
"They took our painting and our food! Of course, the deal has to work!"
Yoongi snorted.
Jungkook shot a sidelong glance at Han So-hee.
Jeon Jungkook(E)
"You did well today."
Han so hee(O)
"I caused the problem in the first place, so I’m just making amends."
Jeon Jungkook(E)
"You’ve worked hard these past two days. Take a few days off,"
Jungkook suggested, knowing the PR department wouldn’t be needed during the upcoming collaboration meetings.
Han so hee(O)
"I’ll take the time off after the signing is done. Mrs. Wilson might need someone to accompany her during the later stages,"
So-hee replied, seizing the opportunity to strengthen her relationship with Jungkook.
Mrs. Jeon was fond of her, and So-hee was determined to solidify her relationship with Jungkook.
She was confident she would become Mrs. Jeon one day. It was fortunate that Taehyung had discovered the forgery in time, preventing embarrassment and allowing her to persuade Mr. Cheon to part with a painting and arrange the afternoon tea. This earned her all the credit and left a good impression on Jungkook.
Jeon Jungkook(E)
"Very well,"
Jungkook nodded, then glanced at Yoongi.
Jeon Jungkook(E)
"Did you prepare the gift for Mr. Cheon?"
Jeon Yoongi(A)
"Of course,"
Yoongi replied, retrieving an antique from his car and following his brother into the Cheon family house to express their gratitude.
In the Korean-style garden of the Cheon family villa, they found the elderly man feeding fish.
Jeon Yoongi(A)
"Mr. Cheon, we are very grateful for your help. Please accept this gift as a token of our appreciation,"
Yoongi said, excited about how the collaboration would secure Jeon’s Enterprise's foothold in S Land.
Cheon Ho-jin waved it off.
Cheon Ho-jin
"No need for gifts. Taehyung already thanked me and brought the dessert. You should thank him instead."
Jungkook's eyes narrowed.
Jeon Jungkook(E)
"Did you mean... Kim Taehyung?"
Yoongi, confused, looked from Cheon Ho-jin to Han So-hee.
Jeon Yoongi(A)
"Wasn’t it you who convinced Mr. Cheon?"
Han so hee(O)
"I was at the Cheon family house the whole time, but I never saw Taehyung."
Yoongi smiled at Cheon Ho-jin and asked.
Jeon Yoongi(A)
"Did you mean Taehyung, or did you mean So-hee?"
Cheon Ho-jin
"I meant Kim Taehyung. I don’t know anyone named So-hee,"
Cheon Ho-jin replied, rolling his eyes.
Han So-hee’s face turned red with embarrassment, though she forced a smile.
Han so hee(O)
"Mr. Cheon, you told me yesterday that you could spare a painting for us."
Cheon Ho-jin
"Taehyung spoke with me yesterday and left afterwards. You were just the messenger."
Han So-hee felt humiliated as if she had been slapped in the face.
Once again, Taehyung had not only pointed out the forgery she had bought but also completely ruined the good impression she had worked so hard to establish in front of Jungkook.
Cheon Ho-jin
"Take your gift back. But answer me one question."
Jeon Jungkook(E)
"What question?"
Cheon Ho-jin looked between Jungkook and Yoongi.
Cheon Ho-jin
"Kim Taehyung isn’t involved with either of you, is he?"
Jeon Yoongi(A)
What do you mean?
Cheon Ho-jin
"I mean, he’s not dating either of you, right?"
Jeon Yoongi(A)
"No, absolutely not. Who would want someone like him? You’d have nightmares!"
Yoongi shook his head, denying any connection, though he couldn’t help but recall Taehyung's one-night stand with his brother.
Cheon Ho-jin nodded with satisfaction.
Cheon Ho-jin
"Good. My grandson doesn’t have a girlfriend or boyfriend, and Taehyung is a smart, beautiful omega—definitely his type."
Yoongi burst into laughter.
Cheon Ho-jin
Mr. Cheon, are you sure you’re not setting up a trap for your grandson?
How could Taehyung be considered attractive? But if Mr. Cheon wanted to match him with his grandson, it would certainly be an interesting contribution to society!
Jeon Jungkook did not ask or say any further. He got into the car and drove off, leaving Han soo hee standing there all alone, hating Kim Taehyung to the bone.
Taehyung was watching a teen romance drama on TV, but he put down the noodles he had just cooked, feeling nauseated.
The lead actress was Ye Jin, a relatively popular actress in Hua Land and Taehyung's half-sister, though they had different mothers.
Ye Jin’s mother, Son na-eun , had come from a poor rural background. The Kim family had supported her through university, where she became friends with Taehyung's mother, kim Yuna. The Kim family even funded Son na-eun 's overseas studies and made her a director at Enterprise when she returned.
But Son na-eun had shown no gratitude. Instead, she had an affair with Kim yuna’s husband, Jang Joon , for decades, resulting in two illegitimate children.
Kim yuna had no idea about the affair and even made Son na-eun the godmother of her son. It wasn’t until a year ago that Kim Yuna discovered the truth and left with Taehyung.
Tragically, Kim yuna died in a car accident shortly afterwards, and Taehyung was in a coma for months. When he woke up, Son na-eun had moved into the kim family home with her two children, Jang ye jin and jang ho-jun, driving Taehyung, the rightful heir, out of his own home.
Whenever Taehyung thought about this, a cold determination flashed in his eyes. Since he had survived for Kim Taehyung, he was determined to reclaim everything that was rightfully his.
