Cassandra Arundel
Good thing you’ve made a decision, Jayce. (With a nonchalant face)
Jayce
Yeah, I don't have any other place to go anyway.
Rayleigh Arundel
Wow, talking as if they're the same age. (Rayleigh said in amazement.)
Cassandra Arundel
The maids will take you to your room. Tomorrow, you will immediately enroll at De La Salle University.
The maids approached Jayce and invited her to go upstairs to show her to her room.
Rayleigh Arundel
Do you think you're being too cold towards Jayce?
Cassandra Arundel
No, why?
Rayleigh Arundel
Her parents have just passed away. It would be better if we treated her with kindness instead of coldness, hon. (Giving Cassandra a wink.)
Cassandra Arundel
You know me, Rayleigh. I’m not a cold person; this is just how I am. I’m still grieving the loss of our child.
After saying that, she took a deep breath and set down the glass she was drinking from.
Rayleigh Arundel
I know, hon. I know how painful it is to lose a child. That was our child, our only child.
Cassandra Arundel
Rayle really takes after you. (With bombastic side eye)
Rayleigh Arundel
Thank you,(while scratching the back of his head.)
Jayce and the maid have gone upstairs; her room is on the second floor. The maid didn’t accompany her inside; Jayce entered the room alone.
When Jayce opened her room, she wasn’t surprised by its size but still shook her head at how large the room was.
Jayce
This room is too large for someone like me. (Sigh)
Jayce
Well, there’s nothing I can do; they arranged this.
Jayce
I can’t fully grasp that I have royal blood. I knew we were wealthy, but I didn’t realize there was something I didn’t know.
Jayce
(She shook her head) Just focus on racing, Jayce. Concentrate on racing and academics, not on things that don’t deserve your attention.
The maids prepared the food for Jayce’s breakfast with her grandparents.
All the food prepared by the maids were Jayce’s favorites: hot dogs, spam, eggs, bread, sausages, and more.
Rayleigh Arundel
Let's eat, hon. Come on, Jayce, sit next to me.
Rayleigh gave Jayce a big smile. Jayce sat next to her grandfather, and as she saw the food on the table, she immediately felt hungry.
She couldn’t hold back anymore, so she quickly grabbed her favorite foods. As she did this, her grandmother smiled, and Rayleigh noticed. Rayleigh grinned, feeling a sense of family once again.
"As soon as Jayce grabbed the food, she ate it quickly, which caused her to choke. Fortunately, her grandfather immediately handed her a glass of water, which she took right away to drink."
Rayleigh Arundel
Take it easy, dear, or you might disappear too. Just kidding. (Rayleigh said, laughing.)
Cassandra Arundel
You're not funny, Rayleigh,(Cassandra said coldly.)
Rayleigh just smiled and raised a hand to give Cassandra a peace sign.
Rayleigh Arundel
Just eat as much as you want, my dear!(Rayleigh said tenderly to Jayce.)
Meanwhile, Jayce kept eating, ignoring what her grandfather was saying. As long as there was food, she wasn’t going to disregard it.
After they finished their breakfast, Rayleigh gave Jayce his gift.
Rayleigh Arundel
I have a gift for you, my dear.
Rayleigh Arundel
Have a sit first
Jayce sat down as her grandfather handed her the gift. She was surprised to find cards inside.
Jayce
Are you giving these to me?
Jayce
Are you sure? One card would be enough.
Rayleigh Arundel
Of course. It's for you, my dear. Everything your grandmother and I have is also for you.
Rayleigh smiled after saying that, handed the cards to Jayce, hugged her, and kissed her forehead.
Jayce’s eyes widened with surprise as she saw the three cards. A mixture of awe and gratitude filled her expression. Her cheeks flushed slightly as she took in the gesture’s significance. As Rayleigh handed her the cards and embraced her, Jayce felt a wave of warmth and affection. Her heart swelled with a deep sense of belonging and appreciation, her usual guarded demeanor melting away in the sincerity of the moment.
