It's not that she is ugly, it's that she isn't one of those "Heaven Defying Jade Beauty's" that the Xanxia world is so full of. She's a bigger girl, and attractive, but too many muscles, hence, she was considered pretty. Probably didn't help that she was likely to be at least a foot taller than the guy.
