Chapter 20 - Return The Hubby
I was cleaning up pots and pans after feeding my son fried chicken when a silhouette entered my house.
It creeped up behind me until the silhouette hands went around my waist.
Aubery Kung
It's Saturday.
Aubery... I turned around and didn't have time to talk to him. His fiery lips filled with concentrated longing grabbed a hold of mine. His tongue dove into my throat while his hands lifted me up onto the counter.
Nina Sze
B-But Shiro i-is...
Aubery Kung
I don't care. Let's make another baby, honey!
Aubery tensed. He didn't want to tell me that in order to keep Shiro safe, she'd have to birth another child to become the heir to the Kung family.
Aubery Kung
I want to have a bigger family. And this time, I want to raise him.
Nina Sze
You do realise that you can't chose the gender, right?
Nina Sze
Of course you can't. It's either going to be a boy or a girl.
Aubery Kung
Well, that means that we'll have to have more babies until we have a son! Now, let's get to it-
Nina Sze
No. No, why are you suddenly wanting another child. You were clear before that you didn't want to share me.
Nina Sze
Is it because of your mother?
He looked up at me shocked.
Nina Sze
She sent someone to follow me around. Is she going to try and take Shiro away? If that's the case, I'm leaving to somewhere that she won't even be able to find me!
Aubery Kung
It's fine. As long as you give birth to another child, Shiro can be safe. Now, let's-
Nina Sze
That's not the point. Even if I were to give birth to another child, I would never give them up.
I wouldn't be able to deal with the fact that I sent a child into a terrible situation that I could have prevented.
Nina Sze
Sorry, Aubery, but no. I'm not going to give any of my children to that woman.
Aubery Kung
It's my children too.
Nina Sze
Our child? Are you calling Shiro your child? You think that you have more claim on him than I, the mother who gave birth to him and raised him, does? You were never there. You didn't help me in any way and don't say that it was because you didn't know. That was the problem. You didn't know.
Nina Sze
Over my dead body am I going to allow you to give any of my children, past, present or future, to your mother to ruin.
Aubery Kung
Hold on, what?
Nina Sze
I told you to leave. NOW!
Aubery's heart crashed into a million pieces. His mother's words echoed in his mind. "She's only after the money." "She's just waiting for you to name your price." "She doesn't love you."
Aubery Kung
I'll pay you 50 million of you give birth to another kid for me.
A sharp slap resonated around the room. Looking up, he saw my enraged face and realised that he had made the whole situation worse.
Nina Sze
You want me to put a price tag on a human life? You disgust me, Aubery Kung. Leave this house right this instant and don't even think about coming back before you've realised what you've just asked me to do.
Aubery Kung
I won't leave.
Then, I grabbed the back of his neck and squeezed, making him look down. I then walked towards the door of the apartment where I threw him outside onto the stone flooring.
Looking up, he saw the look of distain in my eyes.
Nina Sze
Stay away from me and stay away from my son.
Slamming the door, Aubery was left alone in the corridor while I frowned and walked towards my laptop. I took a document which I had written for Aubery and out it right into the trash can.
Nina Sze
Men are only but tools that I use for my advantage. From this day forth, the name Aubery Kung means nothing to me.
From the shadows, Obi grinned. He wanted to destroy our relationship himself but it seems like Aubery pushed the self-destruct button himself.
Shiro opened the door to his room and noticed how I was working.
Shiro Sze
Mummy? Have you slept tonight?
Nina Sze
No, Mummy's been working on a new proposal for her company.
Shiro Sze
Oh, okay. But didn't you promise me that you'd get enough sleep?
Nina Sze
I'll sleep once I drop you off at school. I promise, Shiro.
I then got up and took out his breakfast from the oven.
Shiro Sze
Wow! That's all of my favourites! Thanks for the meal.
I went back to writing as Obi opened his door and walked out, half asleep.
Nina Sze
Good morning. Breakfast is in the oven.
I continued to write and type while Obi looked at me, smiling.
He had gotten back the great Nina that he first knew.
The demoness in a business sense, an angelic devil in any form you might see her. In his eyes, I was unstoppable when I was like this.
After I dropped Shiro off, I got a phone call from Carson. I didn't want to pick up but I might as well.
Mr Carson
Miss Sze, its terrible. Master Kung has drowned himself in liquor. I can't keep it from him! He's mumbling about you. Did you have a fight?
Nina Sze
It was way more than that. He offered me money in exchange for giving a child up to his family.
Mr Carson
No. The Master would have never done that... unless he was desperate.
Nina Sze
But why, though? Of all the things, money too? Does he think that I'm that kind of cheap woman?
Mr Carson
This happens everytime he returns from England. His mother influences him in ways that I cannot predict.
Nina Sze
His mother must be terrible.
Mr Carson
Well, she was married to the previous Mr Kung. He was a terrible person and very possessive of his belongings. He locked Mrs Kung up until she gave birth to a child. Her confinement lasted three years.
Gosh, that's enough time to turn even me crazy.
Mr Carson
Apparently, there was no love between them but even if Mr Kung was sleeping around, he always came back at night to his wife. He needed an heir and eventually, Mr Kung's older brother came along and that was her ticket to freedom, or so she thought...
Nina Sze
What happened next?
Mr Carson
Mr Kung died of a heart attack. Well, that's what the doctors said. Apparently, he took too much of his medication and died.
Nina Sze
And you think that-
Mr Carson
Yes. I heard Mrs Kung laughing in her room. However, when the will reading came out, she was shocked.
Mr Carson
The previous Mr Kung had changed it so that his son inherited every dime and that if he were to die, all of the money would be invested into his company and not a single dime would go to his wife.
Mr Carson
Therefore, she had to raise the child in order to continue the lifestyle that she had married into. Then, a week after his death, she was discovered pregnant with Mr Kung. She never paid attention to him since he wasn't the one to inherit the company.
Mr Carson
However, when his brother died, her sights laid on Aubery. She sunk her claws into him, gifting him with presents so that he wouldn't kick her out of the house. Aubery turned 14, right after his brother's accident, he inherited the company.
That's a year before I started midnight. I guess that starting off early has its perks.
Mr Carson
It took a mental blow on Mr Kung and he became paranoid of people in general. Thus, his phobia of crowds came to be.
There was a silence and then, Carson spoke up about a different matter.
Mr Carson
After you and Mr Kung spent the night together, he had changed. He was more determined to become more powerful just to be able to impress you when you'd return. Ever since that day, he's loved and cherished you very much. So please... come and see him, Miss Sze.
What should I do? I want to stay angry and him but I do want to help him too. I'm stuck between two sides...
