Abram only watched her leave. When she closed the door, he released the cry he had been holding back, as if he loved Natalia. But he also loved money, comfort, recognition, and prestige, and that was something that Niurka Valusva offered him. The Russian woman had always been in love with Abram, and when she found out that he had married Natalia, she hated her and promised herself that she would do whatever it took to separate them. Thus, like the rich and capricious girl she was, she convinced her parents to talk to the Yaroslav family and convince Abram to marry her in exchange for several million that they would invest in his architecture firm, which would help it grow and position it among the best in Russia.
Mr. Henry Yaroslav and Mrs. Amanda Yaroslav finally convinced Abram. He didn't resist much since he wanted to have money and power.
Natalia arrived at Heily's apartment. It wasn't in a luxurious place, but it was cozy and comfortable, and fortunately, it belonged to Heily.
Heily and Natalia met when they were in college in Colombia, and since then, they became inseparable. Besides, Heily had settled in Russia before Natalia.
Natalia entered Heily's apartment and finally let out the cry she had been holding back. She cried, as she would say, her eyes out.
"Who was I married to for six years, Heily? He didn't even have the guts to tell me the truth. He just told me that he didn't love me anymore, that the love had cooled down. For God's sake, Heily, I dedicated six years to someone who was worthless. I gave him my savings for his company. He was so miserable that he already had the divorce papers ready."
"What? That son of a…! And you signed the divorce?"
"Yes, I don't want to hear from him ever again."
"Well, Nata, but with what you're entitled to for the years of marriage, you can start over."
"No, Heily, I'm not entitled to anything. Abram told me that the apartment was his, as well as the car and, of course, the company. He gave me two days to vacate. He said the only thing I could take was the furniture and my clothes."
"Oh, please, Natalia. What kind of jerk is Abram? You shouldn't have signed the divorce; he had to give you what is rightfully yours."
"Maybe so, but the truth is I don't have the time or money to fight for anything. I'll let him keep everything. I'll start over. After all, my parents taught me how to work, and I already have experience as an architect. Something will come up."
"Nata, I'm sorry. I know you love him and that your heart is broken. You know I'm here for you; you have my full support. This apartment is also your home, so tomorrow we'll go get your things."
"Thanks, Heily. I don't know what I would do without you. Help me put the furniture up for sale; that money will help me while I get a job because it's clear that I'm only going to the Yaroslav Innovation company for my things."
"Okay, but tonight we'll put on some heartbreak music. I'll go with you to have a pola (beer), and you must promise yourself that starting tomorrow, you will celebrate your freedom and welcome your new life as the queen you are."
"It's a promise, Heily. Tonight, I, Natalia Camelo Ortiz, promise that from tomorrow on, I will not look back. To hell with Abram, his parents, and the bland Russian woman he cheated on me with. I promise myself that from now on, I will be ZERO BLIND LOVE, meaning I will only let into my life those who truly earn a place with actions and not with words."
"That's the way to talk, Natalia. Cheers to that."
Indeed, that night Natalia cried and drank until she was exhausted; she let out all her frustration and anger, although she had already done some of that months ago when she discovered her husband's lies.
The next day, she woke up quite late since she had stayed up drinking and crying.
"Hello, sleepyhead. How are you feeling? I made you a 'revive the dead' soup, like the one Mrs. Carmenza makes, although it's better when she makes it."
"Hahaha, thanks, Heily. Well, I have a big hangover, both physical and mental, but I'll be fine. And speaking of my mother, Mrs. Carmenza, I have to call her and my dad to tell them about my divorce."
"Your father and brother are going to want to kill Abram."
"Yeah, most likely. But luckily, we are quite far away. Hey, remember that I had paid for the trip to New York six months ago and the 3-day reservation at the Baccarat Hotel?"
"Yes, and obviously they won't refund you a penny."
"Exactly. I was thinking that you and I should go. I'm not going to lose the months of sacrifice saving that money and paying for that trip, so you and I are going to have a wonderful weekend; we deserve it."
"Well, you're right. So, since you paid for the flights and the hotel, I'll take care of the food and other trip expenses."
"Okay, that sounds good. So we have twenty days until the trip. In the meantime, I'll start submitting resumes for jobs and work at the club singing and waitressing like old times."
"Good, Nata, perfect. I have some money saved; it's not much, but it will do for our vacation, although I confess that in that hotel, everything must cost an arm and a leg."
"Most likely, but we'll stick to our budget."
After Natalia had breakfast, she took a shower, took painkillers for her hangover, helped her friend tidy up the apartment, and went to what used to be her apartment to pick up her things and take the furniture to Heily's apartment while they managed to sell it.
Later, Natalia went to talk to Raush, who was now the owner of a club, to ask for a job as a waitress again and to let her sing on Saturdays (for those wondering, yes, it's the same Raush from "The Untamable," the bartender; yes, it's him).
"Hey there, gorgeous Latina. You're back here again?"
"Yes, they told me you're the owner of your own club now, so I'd like to know if you could give me a job as a waitress for some shifts, and let me sing on Saturdays."
"Well, Naty, the job is yours, but you'll have to wait at least a month because they're remodeling the place. I found a millionaire partner, and we want to make this club the best in Moscow. So, welcome to my team. Of course, the pay will be much better than at Alexander Cavielli's club. And there will be a stage for singing, so you'll be able to sing Saturday and Sunday, plus the weekend is the best time for tips. I plan to have the most powerful and millionaire clients in this country."
"Oh, great! Well, congratulations, Raush. It was about time you made your dream come true, and I'm delighted to break it in with you. So, see you in a month…"
