My Ghostly Library
Imaginary friends are a psychological and social phenomenon where a friendship or other interpersonal relationship takes place in the imagination rather than external physical reality. Although they may seem very real to their creators, children usually understand that their imaginary friends are not real.
¿Are They?

About seven years ago I took a child psychology class in nursing school. One day we spent a good fifteen minutes learning about children and imaginary friends. I vividly remember the hair standing up on the back of my neck as the instructor described children having full-fledged conversations and play-sessions with their "friends" honestly I was very on edge that day all I got out of it was The Shining, Poltergeist, and Children of the gawd damn corn!!!
To be honest I needed some kind of holy water, baptism anything around me like that.
Up until three months ago I've had the privilege of not having anything to do with these "friends". Frankly by keeping my distance from as many children as I possibly can. I mean sure I know for a fact that they aren't real and just a figment of kids imaginations but those classes gave the the creeps especially those videos they showed and documents we read about kids talking and playing with their "friends" that was some creepy stuff man.
When I was about seven months pregnant with a baby girl, I was seriously hoping that she didn't end up with an imaginary friend at all, not to be rude and all, but I didn't wanna deal with any of that spiritual being like stuff where they talk to thin-air and say some creepy stuff. I was not gonna hesitate to get her to a church and throw holy water everywhere on her and the house.
Fast forward a couple of years there I was sitting in a hot pink tiara, and a blue feathered boa looking fabulous might I add while having a full on tea party with my daughter and her "friend". I was on edge about the whole thing.
"Sweety, tell our special guest mommy has things to do so i'm gonna have to leave ok" I looked at her placing my 'cup of tea' on the plastic Disney princess table I got her for her birthday the week before. Which had a plastic tea set and some cookies on it at the moment. Moving a feather out my face which had been tickling me for a while I stood up. To be completely honest I just wanted to leave before my daughter said anything weird, plus I was getting chills already.
"Mommy wait up!" She ran after me leaving her cup and taking a cookie.
"Are you leaving our guest by herself" I said taking off my hot-pink tiara I looked at her rubbing my head afterwards cause it hurt.
She shook her little head, pigtails hitting her face while she did. "No she's not by herself she has cuudlebun" she was referring to her favorite bunny plush her father had gotten her a long time ago at a fair.
Man I loved that bunny plush but it gives me the creeps sometimes, for some reason she decided to draw on it with some permanent sharpies. It looked like something straight out of a horror movie I'm telling you, I had never screamed so loud in my life as I did that day I walked in on her drawing on it and on herself. Her little smile as I looked around her room and there was writing all over the walls, luckily non on the bed she seemed so proud of her work so all I did was laugh it off while contemplating my life choices.
Exiting the house I locked the door behind me deep in thought failing to realize my daughter had ran ahead and started heading into the street.
"Be Careful!"
"Okay,I will! Come on Zoya!"
I followed after her looking around for this 'Zoya' person but shortly realized it was probably her imaginary friend, making a mental note to stop by the church some time.
Looking up the street I noticed a car approaching at full speed our way. Before I had time to realize what was going on I started running after her pushing her out the way just in the nick of time.
"MOMMY!"
Time seemed to slow down, next thing I know I was airborne, it was like being blindsided in a football field by someone much, much stronger than you. Landing on the ground I was needles to say confused, I couldn't tell which way I was facing, nor where all the voices came from.My whole body hurt. I heard cellphones click to life from those calling emergency services as strangers ran to assist me, my daughters voice kept coming closer as a gentleman an angel as far as I'm concerned took my head in his hands to prevent further injuries.
"My daughter.." I whimpered. I wanted to sit up and see if my daughter was ok but the man insisted I stay still. He assured me help was coming and that my daughter was safe and sound. My body heated up, dark clouds pressed their way into my vision, my breath shortened, as I started to panic and trying to look around as my vision faded out.
Little did I know someone was watching all of that go down, tears streaming down their cheeks.
