Madam, the General was attacked by an assassin on his return trip and is in a critical condition.

He has been currently admitted to the Military Hospital. I have sent you the address along with the room number and---

At that time, the "Critical Condition" was the only thing that registered into Marianne's mind.

She hastily stood up from her chair which surprised Diana.

But before she could stop her, Marianne had already left the office.

[ At City Rowan's Military Hospital ]

Marianne stepped out of the cab she had booked to take her to the hospital and saw Brian standing outside the hospital's entrance.

*sees her coming towards him*

Madam. *salutes her*

How is he?! *tears had formed in her eyes*

Now matter how cruel Laurence was to her, she still loved him from the bottom of her heart.

Marianne couldn't bear the thought of loosing him forever.

The General is being operated by the best doctors of this hospital. Although, his injuries are brutal, I believe he is going to be alright after the operation.

His assuring words calmed Marianne's panic. But she felt a sudden rush of anger taking over her as well.

Who was the assassin?! Has he been caught?

Brian Jenson (Laurence's Secretary)

Unfortunately, the assassin escaped before the other officers could catch him.

But the Major General assumes that he was sent by the neighbouring country, Sian whom we not on good terms with.

Country Eres and Country Sian have been getting on each other's nerves for the past 15 years. Both the countries are fighting over a sea route for trading purposes which is located in the southern regions.

Because of the conflicts between the two countries, Sian have started sending their spies and assassins to obtain vital information and use it as a weakness against Eres.

*takes a deep breath*

Mr. Brian, is Uncle and Aunt also here?

They reached the hospital fifteen minutes ago and are waiting outside the Operation Theatre along with Major General and a few other soldiers.

Marianne followed Brian to the hallway where others had been waiting for quite some time. Although, she felt nervous about facing her husband's Uncle and Aunt, Marianne remained calm on the outside so as to not look weird.

As soon as the soldiers saw Marianne approaching them, they saluted her out of respect as she was the wife of the General.

Even Major General came over to greet Marianne.

Mr. Thompson (Major General)

Please rest assure, I believe in Laurence. He is going to be fine.

*nods* Thankyou so much sir.

From the corner of her eyes, Marianne saw Laurence's uncle and aunt standing near the operation Theatre. Both of them avoided her like the plague as if she did not exist.

As if she wasn't their nephew's wife...

Still, with a heavy heart, Marianne decided to approach them first.

Laurence is going to be alright... *tries to sound reassuring*

After all, wherever you go, every operation becomes successful! *scoffs*

*embarassed as she knew the cause of his anger*

*her eyes fell on Leah's armless shoulder*

It's been eight years since Leah Gerardo lost her left arm... Marianne still remembered how weak she looked after going through the operation.

During the past, Marianne thought that Leah wouldn't survive for long but even after suffering from so many difficulties, she managed to rise higher than expected.

She was way too strong, unlike Marianne, who ran away when things got difficult.
